As previously speculated, this August's six-part Infinity will reportedly feature Thanos returning to Earth to wreak havoc on the planet when Earth's Mightiest Heroes are forced to leave it unprotected. After planting seeds in both Avengers and New Avengers, a team of heroes will align themselves with Nova and the Guardians of the Galaxy in order to attempt to bring together the likes of the Skrulls and Kree to combat the forces of the villainous Builders; an ancient intergalactic race who have targeted Earth - and the universe itself - for destruction.
Free Comic Book Day (May 4th) will offer up our first glimpse of the Mad Titan's plans for the planet, while it has now been confirmed that Hickman will be working with artists Jim Cheung, Jerome Opena and Dustin Weaver on the main series.
"The universe's greatest serial killer is cut loose to do bad things to our most precious world," the writer teases. Apparently, the fate of Earth will be left in the hands of remaining heroes like Daredevil, Spider-Man and Hawkeye, although they will have some back-up from the Inhumans! "Somebody like Daredevil, who's used to dealing with more street-level problems, has to suddenly face foes and situations that are a little bit out of his ordinary weight class," says Marvel executive editor Tom Brevoort. "There are huge plans for the Inhumans," adds Hickman. "They're such great characters, and this will be a pretty good example of why."
