This August, writer Nathan Edmondson is crossing over his two Marvel books, with the Punisher and Black Widow colliding in a new story titled Friend From Foe. Crossbones and his Skull Squad will act as antagonists in the two-issue story, and will feature art by Mitch Gerads (The Punisher) and Phil Noto (Black Widow). "We knew fans were clamoring for it from the beginning, but we didn’t want to rush into it," Edmondson said in an interview with Marvel.com. "When it was a natural time, we came up with a really unique way to launch into it... Frank and Natasha are a really interesting pair to combine together... on the one hand, they seem to exist in the same kind of heroic/antiheroic space in the Marvel Universe, but at some point the similarities stop and the disparity begins, and the tug and pull between those two ends will be at play here."

Isn't it a little late for Frank to start wearing a mask? Everyone knows who the Punisher is..

@b&y Nah man, Black Widow would smoke Punisher. Frank Castle is a full-on badass and has impressive military training, but between Black Widow's military and espionage training, he couldn't hang with Natasha.

Hate to be sexist but Punisher is such a brutal combatant & has a pain threshold that's off the charts.
If it came down to hand to hand,Frank would destroy her,utterly.
Widow needs to sniper him from distance if she had to kill him.

mgeoff, I'm gonna have to disagree with you on this one. I think they're comparable in training but Punisher is more brutal and heartless.

@marvel72:

The first issue of Cyke's book is great and I've been enjoying Moon Knight and Ms. Marvel.

Still need to read Magneto, Captain Marvel, Daredevil, Inhuman, She-Hulk and Elektra. D-:

@sameoldthing Gender isn't a factor in a match-up. It's all about the character's training, experience, and personality.

In one of her origins, Natasha was enlisted in black ops training program when she was a child. Frank Castle has always been a military man in his origins. A person who has been trained to be an assassin since they were a child would have the edge in combat against someone who hasn't been trained at as young of an age. B&Y made a good point about Punisher though.

@b&y Hmmm, I'll have to give you that one. Even though Black Widow isn't afraid to get her hands dirty if it means completing a mission, she has more restraint than Punisher does.
