COMICS: SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN Is Apparently Not Who We Thought It Was

A while ago we posted (what we thought was) a massive SPOILER regarding the identity of Dan Slott's Superior Spider-Man, but now it seems we might have been mistaken. Read on find out the details - as long as you don't mind being potentially spoiled by the previous spoiler..geddit?..

First off, Dan Slott REALLY doesn't want us to know the identity of the character prematurely - so much so that he has Tweeted the following..

Bleeding Cool picked up on this, and along with the story revealed that they knew who the character was and that they weren't about to tell - BUT, it wasn't the person we had previously thought it was. Who was that person? Well, just in case, we are still gonna run this as a potential spoiler so..

Highlight this txt to find out - None other than Miguel O'Hara, aka Spider-Man 2099!

So just to be clear, apparently the Superior Spider-Man is NOT the person above. So who is he? Well, even if we knew we wouldn't risk being blocked by Mr Slott would we? So let the speculation begin anew!

Peter is the only Spidey. Why can't we say that @LEVITIKUZ, it's a genuine, legitimate opinion, and it's not being disrespectful to anyone.

It might be Harry Osborn.

I like the new costume though, except the claws and the spiky 'belt'. If the belt section was like the classic costume, it'd be a winner in my book. A slightly more simplified version of the classic costume, plus the tabi boots would be practical considering Spidey's powers, and the eyes are cool too.

Prediction number 2: It's Peter Parker but he's using an alias (maybe fakes his death in the last issue of Amazing?). Maybe he starts calling himself Ben Reilly?

I will only will be able to except kaine as the new spidey, it only makes sense since they are saying the new spidey is darker, kaine is already a dark spidey, and new spidey is with mary jane, well only makes sense kaine would have a thing for mj since he is peters clone ( plus there are way too many spider heros so just reuse one! dont make another!) wait ! what if ben riely comes back! hmmmmmmmm

Call me crazy but I think Superior Spider-Man will actually be Peter Parker with Doc Ocs mind/personality. Stay with me.

Doc OC has been dying for some time now and that will all colminate the the upcoming issue. At the end of ends of the earth we see one of Doc Ock's mind controlling devices walk away from the wreckage, I think he will use this device to transfer his consiounous to Spider-Man/Peter Parker's body. Leaving Peter's mind in a dying Doc Ock's body. Now Peter needs to find a cure or a way to transfer is mind back into his body. This is a way you could potentially save Doc Ock and create a new dynmaic for Peter Parker/Spider-Man, the supporting cast and his greatest villian.

Maybe the new spider-man's motivation is he wants to [frick] mj. That is slotts schtick
evilness
evilness - 11/13/2012, 12:37 PM
there may have been others in the role in the past, but you don't (or at least shouldn't) [frick] around with the big three:

clark kent as superman
bruce wayne as batman
peter parker as spider-man

changing them is like saying: let's replace harrison ford as indiana jones, sylvester stallone as rocky, anthony hopkins as hannibal lecter, mark hamill as luke skywalker, bruce campbell as ash, bruce willis as john mcclane, johnny depp as captain jack sparrow etc etc.

some of these you may not like. there may be other versions of some (lecter, batman, spidey etc). and in some cases, the character/superhero-name is bigger than the actor/man-behind-the-mask: james bond, flash, green lantern. but sometimes, the actor/man-behind-mask is a MAJOR part of what makes the character iconic. and taking that actor/man-behind-mask out of the equation leaves behind a character/superhero-name that doesn't even mean the same thing anymore.

i like dick grayson more than bruce wayne. but bruce wayne, his name, his personality, who he is, is a MAJOR part of batman's iconic image. and thus, bruce wayne is the true batman. because without him, it essentially, isn't the character that is iconic.

same for peter parker. i enjoy miguel o'hara. but peter parker's name, personality, life history are synonymous with spider-man and a BIG part of the iconic image.

thus, without a shadow of doubt: peter parker IS spider-man

@jingorot

You're right. And because of that they'll tell you that you're wrong. Because 'some people are too stuck in the past', 'cuz you're afraid of change', 'and change like this is good'. Wether it has any real logic at any rate, is not so important, cuz they don't care.

Now if it was something they fancied. [frick] no. But that's why they take the offensive on something that doesn't even matter in theit lives. But its just a comic book after all.

So why so serious?
