So Thanos has the Infinity Gauntlet loaded with all the gems, the same device he used back in the day with which he could merely snap his fingers and eliminate 50% of life in the universe instantly, a story arch involving every Marvel superhero in a cosmic-level event which compares to the current AVX (if not completely shadowing it), and who's gonna take him on this time around? Jus' the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy... and somehow the Avengers completely forget who Thanos is?

Avengers Assemble is definitely a fun read, but you have to ignore a lot of Earth 616 canon in order for it to make sense. They say its canon, but thats really more or less for marketing purposes so that fans feel more inclined to pick it up. While the MCU is hot, I'm sure we'll see more story archs like this to appeal to the fans of the films who wanna jump on board and sink their teeth into something more MCU friendly.

@monkeyballs3- I can imagine something like AIM steal Loki's scepter to build their own Cube for Thanos to find the Gems and the Avengers have to go into space to destroy the Cube.

Or something like that.

No shaderson, he does not have the Infinty Gauntlet and the gems. What he has is the US Government's version of the Cosmic Cube.

I see the cover has him displayed as such, but so far in the story he doesn't have them. Unless it happens in that very book, then the cover is simply lying to you, as they often times do.
