Films don't influence the comics? say whaaah? Marvel Comics is becoming a sellout.

Every time I see kid Nova, I cringe. Probably has to do more with the way that they draw him, than it does with the actual character.

Curious to know if they are trying to tie this Nova into the cinematic universe by using the Chitauri.

"Oh yeah!" "I guess mom was wrong!"
I find teenage superheroes incredibly irritating, especially the 90's skateboarder dialogue and stupid kids outsmarting all the authority/"adults" through juvenile tricks.

Er @Orpheus and @tritheorist, we're all big geeks and (hopefully) love our comics but gotta remember that they started out as a way to get kids into reading and whilst they are undoubtedly now being viewed as a medium for adults as well, some of them must remain targeted at kids. We can't expect all kids to love and relate to 30year old dudes with kids and mortgages, need some youngies too

I'm digging this book so far. Hope it retains this level of quality (both the writing and art) for a while.

There's no way Disney going to put a character named Dick Rider in a film. How do you market that??

Y'know I was a little skeptical of "Kid Nova" at first but this series is really growing on me. It's pretty fun and it seems like the action is beginning to pick up.

And what better way to start than with the Marvel Universe's new/old/favorite red shirt villains, The Chitauri! Lol.

I'll definitely be picking this up!

This is so dumb compared to the previous run.

Glad Loeb is already off the book and sale are lower than Abnett and Lanning's.

@babykhris

It' Richard Rider.

And a simple line in the movie would do away with it.

Like "I've been told that since I was five."

Loeb and McGuiness have always been pro-knock-off... I still recall their run on Superman about 10 years back where they completely transformed the comics into a shitty cheap knock-off version of the Superman Animated series.

from the looks of this preview it seems they haven't changed a bit

I dont recall seeing the Joker with the Scars, unless you are talking about the out of continuity comic book "Joker" which came out around the same time as the film, so i dont exactly see what that has to do with anything. The whole Bane thing pisses me off a bit though. But to be fair, they didnt do a direct rip off of the movie version of bane.

As far as movies influencing comics i point u too Flashpoint: Green Lantern Mini Series. It's drawn so that Abin, Sinestro, and The Guardians all look like their movie counterparts.

I don't get why people get on Marvel's back for wanting to build on their cinematic successes. Does it matter that the look of a character changes slightly or an (essentially new) alien race looks like they do in the film? If it attracts a few new readers and stops Marvel going bust does it matter? Especially as it doesn't mess with continuity etc.

Chitauri were the Ultimate versions of Skrulls. So... now there are two versions of the Skrulls in the 616 universe?

Ed McGuinness (sp?) friggin' rocks. I wish he was still drawing some Hulk magazine, whether Red, Green, or Skaar --- he's the best a musclebound behemoths!

This comic is awesome. Very fun and gives me all those nostalgic feelings of childhood whimsy. Hope this is a nice long run.

How is is this a slave to the MCU? Marvel has been doing this for a WAY before the MCU(ex. leather costumes for the X-Men, costume change for Bullseye, "upgraded" Blade, and etc.)! Chill y'all.lol
