I hate what Marvel is doing with Havok and Rogue joining the Avengers.

who will be next? Kitty too? Colossus?

@GUNSMITH - not if they locked the coordonates of their timelines or if they left whatever portal they used open. Well if marvel adopted the theory of a new timeline created instead of a changed one, anyway.

It's not your past really, its a past to another timeline... This isn't like The Powerpuff Girls... more like Dragon Ball Z time travel

Guys...it's time travel. It's fiction. It can be any rules they want, as long as they're consistent. Marvel's time travel means an alternate reality is created stemming off from when the original x-men leave their timeline.

The reality they are currently in is 616. Simples!

Why does bringing the X Men of the past into the present mean the present would change? This is time travel. If the past X Men are eventually sent back to the moment they were taken (with their memories erased - which has been implied in the book) then technically,it's like they never left. They could leave the past, and spend 10 years in the present and then be sent back and it wouldn't really matter. Events in the present won't miss a beat, because technically, they were already sent back, even though it hasn't happened yet in the present. Just because they're spending 10 years in the present, it doesn't mean they're gone for 10 years in the past. That's the wonder of sci-fi time travel.

Like so much art in modern comics. Truly beautiful but totally lacks the Kirbyesque power which should define the genre.

People are complaining about Time Travel as if it wasn't something the X-Men are known for doing almost on a regular basis. Hey, why don't we just ask Kang the Conqueror what happens when he leaves his timeline?

It's not like anybody is complaining that Thor is currently in the future in his God of Thunder book. Why aren't people having a little hissy fit about that?

I ain't sayin' this is hard science. This is a comic book we're talking about. But I done read a lot of science fiction in my time from Wells to Crichton to Turtledove. So it makes sense to me. The fact that the present hasn't changed means that these past X Men eventually get sent back; which means that even though they're still in the present, they're already back in the past - ergo no missing X Men. This is why you can have past X Men in the present with no seeming repercussions (yet). As for the aging thing, I mean honestly, weirder things have happened to the X Men. And back in the day, Xavier was really assy and wasn't above doing such things to his students (who will be alive in the past when they get back). Plus in comics, they don't really age anyways. As for the mind erase thing, they got a bajillion and one telepaths in the Marvel U who apparently have enough precision in their ability to wipe out specific memories and leave others perfectly intact. That's another comics staple. I don't like it, but it's there.

In any event, at this point, there's a whole lot of time travel stuff going on in the Marvel U. And it has been hinted that there will be repercussions arising from it. In New Avengers all the Infinity gems except the time gem got destroyed. The time gem just vanished. Pretty sure they have another "event" in mind surrounding all of that. Perhaps this mess with the original X Men will be the center piece of it all.

@TheDarkPassanger

That's not really a time paradox. Because if they eventually go back, it seals the loop (if one of them dies, that's a different story). But a time paradox is more like: if I go back in time to change event A, and am successful, then I wouldn't have traveled back in time in the first place. Or of course the being-your-own-grandfather-paradox (hilariously demonstrated in Futurama).

Anyways, that's all I have to say about all that. I'm sure someone will be on here in a minute to make a cliched comment about "nerds acting like comics are real" and something about being virgins living in mom's basement or what have you.

Plus, Bendis DID mention that there WILL be ramifications from all this time travel and that there will be hint to it mentioned in GOTG. He also said something about every time someone changes something in the past then it causes a tear in the time stream. He promised us it will all be addressed. I def think marvel knows what they are doing with all this recent time travel and something will happen where it all comes to a clash. I even think the introduction of Angela and the next event, Infinity will have a lot to do with that.

@TheDarkPassenger- I feel like you are thinking of time travel in a very linear fashion when the point of time travel is the breaking of linear travel through time.
ScionStorm
ScionStorm - 5/27/2013, 6:58 PM
I thought I read once that in the Marvel Universe, small hiccups in the timestream usually repair themselves and the universe usually adjusts itself using stand-ins or the next best thing to fix a temporal wound like a scab. It's things/events that have a huge effect, major departure like the timestream had a finger torn from it's hand that aren't reparable, wounds too severe to heal, so the Universe splits itself to preserve it's own survival by creating an alternate reality.

So.. pardon my ignorance. Who is the Racer X lookalike in the second frame? Is that the new/ old version of Cyclops? Or will we finally find out the Havok is actually Speed Racer's brother - in a different reality/ alternate universe/ time travel kind of thingy...
