COMICS: Will CAPTAIN AMERICA Die AGAIN This April? Sure Sounds Like It!

"Steve Rogers is dead--long live Captain Zola," reads April's solicitation for Rick Remender and John Romita Jr.'s Captain America #6. While this may make it sound as if Cap will once again meet his maker, it's far more likely that he will instead continue to battle for control over his body with Arnim Zola.

At the conclusion of this week's issue of Captain America, it was revealed that the patriotic superhero has an unwelcome guest in his body - Arnim Zola (read details and check out the final page reveal by clicking HERE). While we are yet to discover how this storyline will play out, it sounds as if the villain will gain control in April's issue #6. Despite what the solicitation below says, it seems highly unlikely that Marvel will do a "Superior Spider-Man" and actually kill off the Captain, but for now, it does sound as if we can expect to see Zola taking control. Regardless, as is so often the case, we're just gonna have to wait and see...!

• Steve Rogers is dead--long live Captain Zola!
• A traitor strikes.
• Arnim Zola gets everything he wants.

CAPTAIN AMERICA #6

@SteveRogersSon.....Thanks, you more or less beat me too it...and nice avatar btw

Yeah. This is revolting. Pathetic. Insulting. Is Remender REALLY going to follow Slott down this path? REALLY?

And the digitally added "ice-cube-bead-curtain" rain doesn't hide the fact THAT NO ONE SEEMS TO KNOW WHAT CAP IS EVEN SUPPOSED TO LOOK LIKE ANYMORE

what. the. [frick]k.

Okay now this is just getting silly...

Anybody else tired of heroes getting lost in time, sharing their bodies with villains or "dying"?

So what if they kill Peter Parker, Steve Rogers or anyone else? We all know they'll be back in like 4 months anyways.

They could have 5 atomic bombs detonate two feet from the entire Marvel universe and they would all magically return to life 2 weeks later.

I want to see heroes retire or die and actually stay dead and have someone else take up their mantle in a well written story with well written characters. Or heck, introduce new characters and new villains instead of Cap punching the Red Skull for 50 years.

Or if you are going to stick with the classic heroes...at least give them a decent story, if you can find one that hasn't been told already.

And JrJr's art...yikes. I'm sure they can find a better art grad student out there who could do a better job...

This is the best Jr. artwork I've seen but I'm pretty sure its only because of the colorist. With that said, Jr.s work is still ancient and very unappealing. I was able to bear with it until I saw the flashback to Rogers' childhood and all I could think of is Kickass (which is not a compliment in any way shape or form). Fail and fail again

I think the Marvel brass conveniently left out the rest of their sudo-relaunch/reboot tag, it should be Marvel Now Sucks!!

where does this series fit in with everything else? Cap is still around in several other series right now in the regular world and not dimension Z. Also with Age of Ultron coming up, how are they going to bring everything into that event when stuff like this is going on like the month before?

jj2112 - 1/19/2013, 12:19 PM
@ StarkAnthony - I was just about to say the same. Hey, maybe Cap's not Cap but a Life Model Decoy or a clone from Earth 666, you never know with Marvel nowadays...

Oh my god all you frickin people do is whine, whine, whine. The issue hasnt even been RELEASED and your already ranting. We all know solicitations dont really tell us much about the issue's story. Shut up and stop crying over a COMIC BOOK CHARACTER.

Marvel NOW doesn't suck. Thor God of Thunder, Punisher: War Zone, Indestructible Hulk, Scarlet Spider, etc. Those are all good reads.

Coming this June.

Superior avengers!!!

doc ock as Spiderman
Seminar Zola as cap
Mandarin as iron man
Loki as thor
Whoever's Hawkeye 's mind switching villain is as Hawkeye
Mentauk the mind taker as black widow (because Harvey birdman was funny)

All this and more, people who used to be true believers, coming at u this June from the house of *clears throat* ideas?

Seriously, though this whole mind switching thing is ridiculous. Next these guys are going to try and sell us on the idea of everyone having an evil twin or getting explosive amnesia.

I have faith in this book. It's very good so far so I'm sure that Cap will be fine. I doubt it'll be like Superior Spider-man at all.

I have collected Captain America since his first appearance in the 60's. Sorry, can't hang with the new re-boot with it's inferior art and outlandish plot. I've also been excited about the Winter Soldier series, but it looks like Marvel is pulling the rug out from under that series as well. I may have to confine my Marvel experience to the theaters...oh well...

i agree, personally i don't like his current captain america storyline & he was responsible for the punisher/fraken-castle story as well which i hated.

but the guy wrote the brilliant uncanny x-force,venom,secret avengers & the decent uncanny avengers.

f/cking read it before you start b/tching. they can't keep doing the same crap for 40+ years with these characters, they've got to switch things up. If they didn't, you'd be b/tching that nothing ever changed. relax, they're fictional characters. everyone complained about superior spider-man until they read it, then they were saying "oh, not so bad..." RELAX.

marvel72: I didn't read the Franken-castle stuff (although I thought the issue in which Daken killed him was incredible), but I quite like the current direction of Captain America. The past year of the title under Brubaker was not great - especially when Bunn came on board - and while the sci-fi stuff isn't quite my cup of tea, it's refreshing, as are the flashbacks to his childhood. And yeah, loved all the other books you listed.

I didn't think it would, but "Marvel NOW!" has actually proved to be pretty great for the most part. All the #1 issues are unnecessary as hell, but they're putting out a lot of good books right now. Still, DC are kicking ass when it comes to consistent quality in stuff like Batman and Justice League (which is STILL better than all of Marvel's Avengers books combined).
