DEBUNKED: Steve Ditko Coming To Next Year's London Super Comic Convention?

Earlier this year, the London Super Comic Convention brought Stan "The Man" Lee to the UK for the first time in decades. According to reliable sources, next year will apparently see the co-creator of the Amazing Spider-Man appear. Read on for details!

For those of us based in the UK, it was pretty extraordinary to see Stan Lee in person at the first ever 'London Super Comic Convention' earlier this year. However, I for one am now kicking myself for buying a pricey copy of Amazing Spider-Man #39 (pencilled by the brilliant John Romita Sr.) to get signed by "The Man" as Bleeding Cool reports that next year will see Steve Ditko visit this side of the pond for a VERY rare convention appearance. As you should already know, Ditko is the co-creator of Spider-Man and Doctor Strange, and worked on many, many other Marvel characters as well. See you there!

UPDATE: It would appear as if the report mentioned above was in fact incorrect as Comic Conventions (where it seems that information actually originated from) have issued the following statement. "Please let me make this clear Steve Ditko will not be attending LSCC 2013. IT HAS BEEN CONFIRMED THAT THIS IS INDEED A FAKE NAME RELEASED TO US AND HAS BEEN CONFIRMED AS NOT COMING."

I'll believe it when I see it. Ditko locked himself away from the public eye decades ago and wont see or talk to anybody in the business.

@ blackandyellow

sorry i thought you were dissing the way we eat like we were all unhealthy.

i suppose it comes down to where you eat, some places would cook better grub than somewhere else.

you can't go wrong with a traditional sunday roast my personal favorite, have you tried a full english breakfast you can't have too many of those if you want to stay trim,it comes with black pudding which is made from pigs blood.

the pub scene is great in the uk,even if its abit dear lots of lagers & beers too chose from.

"Ditko locked himself away from the public eye decades ago and wont see or talk to anybody in the business."

That's not accurate- he was doing mainstream (Marvel/DC)work until '98 (he refused to work on "flawed" characters) and still he releases books, essays and new comics. He still talks to people "in the business," including Stan Lee. He simply doesn't give interviews or make public appearances, and hasn't since the mid-60s.

"When I do a job, it’s not my personality that I’m offering the readers but my artwork. It’s not what I'm like that counts; it’s what I did and how well it was done.... I produce a product, a comic art story. Steve Ditko is the brand name" -Steve Ditko

@Marvel72 Thank you for sharing that video. Well worth the one hour run time! I felt a little bad for Stan Lee but Steve Ditko definitely deservse credit. Loved seeing John Romita in there as well, my personal favorite artist.
