This is probably the most different Spidey comic I've read in awhile. For starters, Spidey doesn't appear. It's all about the Sinister Six. Good or bad you ask? Definitely good, this issue was a very entertaining one. The Sinister Six have been laying low for a bit, so it's good to see them back in action.
The story begins with Doc Ock getting a new metal suit. He knows he's going to die soon, but there's a few things that need to be done before that. The first thing is to stop the INTELLIGENCIA from taking over the world with their doomsday weapon, the Zero Cannon.
Yes, you read that right. The Sinister Six are, in a way, the heroes of this issue. This issue was genuinely amusing. The banter between the members of the team was very good. Doc Ock is on the verge of death, but he's never been more cooler. The rest of the members get adequate screen time, Mysterio being the best. Seriously, even to this day, he can surprise the reader with an illusion. There's one scene in particular that had me laughing out loud. Sadly (well, I could care less, but for fans of the group) while the Sinister Six look great, the Intelligencia look like a joke. Seriously, this group just can't get a break. (Just look at the Avengers .1 issue.)
Humberto Ramos returns for art duties. Some people love it, some hate it. I'm more toward the ladder, but I gotta admit, the art looks good in this issue. The cover is pretty good, and amusing. Though why does this artist always draw the white part of Spider-Man mask eyes so squinty? It always looks strange.
Overall, a fun issue. Even though the title character didn't appear, it was still an impressive issue. I mean, who doesn't want to see Dock Ock and MODOK head-to-head trash talking in scientific language?
8/10.
