My Mind's Telling Me No (about Loki's Scepter)

My take on the Infinity Stones. Well, one in particular. I'll give you a clue, if I had this I could make you all read this article.

I can almost hear the groans, 'Another theory about the current whereabouts of the Infinity Stones in the Marvel Cinematic Universe'. Yes. Sort of. As far as I am aware no one else has come up with this theory which makes me a bit worried incase it's so farfetched or I've completely missed something.
Anyway, his is my first time writing here so I hope you'll join me in my possible delusion.

Ready?

I'll start with a simple statement and then explain my reasoning. The Mind Stone is not in Loki's Scepter.
I, like many other people, saw Avengers Assemble at the cinema and I thoroughly enjoyed it but I did feel a bit let down by the Chitauri. The first thing which struck me was the simple idea of a vast swarm of destructive, drone aliens. I understand why they chose to do it this way- a faceless enemy that the Avengers could shoot, stab, squash, smash etcetera without the audience caring. A mindless army you could say (cough *hint* cough)
The second thing which struck me was the easy defeat of an almost undefeatable armada of killer aliens with superior technology. They all took a power nap. At the same time. On first viewing I reasoned that they could be part of a hive community, not unheard of when it comes to quick and easy defeats. But when I recently rewatched the film, now with the knowledge from Thor: The Dark World and the Guardians of the Galaxy, I came up with a different theory.

The Mind Stone was on the Chitauri Command Centre and Loki's Scepter was a vessel for the power in the same way that the Hydra weapons in The First Avenger could harness the power of the Tesseract. One of Thanos' generals (personally I hope Ebony Maw) was in possession of the Mind Stone and the Chitauri fleet but were out of reach of the Mad Titan for some reason (maybe they were just too darn far away) but with the aid of the Space Stone a portal could be opened for access to both the army and the Infinity Stone. But then the meddling nuclear missile went and blew up the Command Centre leaving the Mind Stone to float about in space.
"Drat" - said Thanos.

I hope I've explained it clearly. Thank you for listening and, as always, Make Mine Marvel.

Well I think you could be on the right track... I know the recent clip suggests the stone is in the sceptre but I agree, perhaps it's only got some of it's power, siphoned off, a la like what the Red Skull did with the Tasseracts power and Zola's help in Cap 1 as you suggest. This would beg the question where is it now, well perhaps Thanos has it already... remember when his throne turned and the Other winced in the end of the Avengers 1 clip, like he was exposed to a hugely powerful mind, or stone enhanced mind... that might tie in with what you're saying. So there it is, my guess is Thanos had it all along (and still has)!!!

Another AoS theory from my brother I can retweet. (it has the word Infinity in it as my excuse)... the Agent Carter One Shot vial, the reason Whitehall stayed young, are both something called the INFINITY FORMULA... check out the link... http://marvel.wikia.com/Infinity_Formula ...Whitehall could have had a diluted version...

Avengers Assemble is the worst movie title ever. Are they really telling me people can't tell the difference between Avengers?

I had a very similar theory. It logically makes sense, then I guess Thanos could have 'fished' for the stone while it was floating through space just like Howard Stark did to the Tesseract. On topic, my reasoning for the Chitauri to fall dead at the end was because the ship had some way of keeping them alive. Like, the ship was sending some sort of element into their system that keeps them alive on our atmosphere. So when the ship was destroyed, it couldn't continue to send them this crucial element and they all died. Kind of like us taking off our oxygen helmet in space.

Anyhow @Scorpion8125, unfortunately you are probably right, except, the stones are incredibly powerful and Loki and his sceptre have shown no such power, not even close to the others, so a bit more food for thought!!!

Have you seen the teaser for Avengers: Infinty War Part 1 and Part 2? Because in that teaser it's really clear that Loki's scepter is an Infinity Stone

i think this might be true, i was thinking about this and remembered a deleted scene with Loki and the other. the other tells him to lead so perhaps the chitauri are just mindless monsters that are controlled by the mind gem but they need someone to lead them.

Yes, that's the problem, it really does seem like it is, but as said, has the sceptre shown a true stone's power or is it something with a bit of the true stones power imbued by Mad Titan himself, if he is in possession of real mind stone that would make more sense, and if it is, we haven't seen that stone yet, therefore they use associated footage... Loki fell off the rainbow bridge without sceptre so it would appear Thanos gave it to him with a little incentive... anyway who really cares... lol, all will be revealed eventually...

Thanos...mind stone
Nova corps... power stone
Collector... reality stone
Asgard... space stone
soul stone... Adam Warlock... revealed in Guardians 2

Infinity War part 1 collection of gems/gauntlet

time stone... the key one in this MCU... revealed in Infinity War part 2

@Kinghulk

I think you nailed it. The mind stone in the scepter is what allowed Loki to command the mindless hordes of aliens flooding through the space tear. It was also shown controlling the minds of both Hawkeye and Selvig. It's not at it's most powerful for the simple reason, that the stone doesn't reach its capabilities until is it coupled with the power stone. Combined with the power stone it reaches its full power and can control all minds in existence simultaneously.

It's amazing how many ways the same series of films can be interpreted.
I too would love to see the Black Order and the Outrides at some point, whatever happens I'm excited.
The future's bright, the future of Marvel's Orange (and Blue, Green, Red, Yellow, Purple).

It is possible. Thanos could of discovered a way to place some of the Mind Gems' power into the scepter.

From the first moment I watched Avengers Assemble I believed Loki's scepter is holding the Mind Gem. Everything Hawkeye and Selvig state about being under the influence of the scepter.

The question I have is how did Thanos open a portal for Loki to arrive? I know they used the Space Gem, but how did they open a portal without physically having the Space Gem. Can the Infinity Gems themselves be used to find each other.
