Tom Welling Being Courted by Marvel?

Tom Welling Being Courted by Marvel?

According to Australia's whatsplaying.com.au, we haven't even seen Tom Welling in the Superman tights yet and Marvel is already supposedly courting him for a potential project.

Muses the site, "You’d think after spending ten years playing a comic book character, an extra few years playing crimefighter would be the furthest thing from Welling’s mind - but it’s not, he’s up for playing a superhero again (you’ll recall he tested for Superman Returns a couple of years ago; if he had gotten it, he would’ve been playing Clark Kent a lot longer). Guess you stick with what you know. And like. And enjoy. Don’t know what film, if any one in particular, Marvel is looking at Welling for but they do have film adaptations of Deathlok, Runaways and Doctor Strange in the works. If it’s one of those three, I think the safe bet is Welling is being considered for Strange. Be interesting to know if Warner Bros, who are in bed with DC, are courting Welling - our contact didn’t know."

The piece also mentions Welling as a possibility for a currently-in-development Allen Quartermain reboot being developed by Smallville co-creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar.

I highly doubt this. Marvel has generally been good about seeking out actors who can, y'know...act.

Ed Quinn is Dr. Strange in my book. After seeing Tom Welling experiment with the dark side in a few episodes of Smallville, maybe Doctor Doom would be good.

Dr. Strange? BAHAHAHAHAHAHA
and Deathlok is black.

I say Welling for Sentry. He could pull off the douchey-ness.

Yeah Welling as Strange is probably the worst casting idea I have ever heard. That's terrible

Okay, let's say that Tom Welling WAS in consideration to play Doctor Strange. Would it really be that bad of a choice? I mean, he's young (like Chris Hemsworth) so that could guarantee he could play the character for a decent amount of years.

And in this picture, he looks like he COULD play Doctor Strange. http://www.celebhairstyle.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/Hairstyle-of-Tom-Welling.jpg

But then again, it could just be a role in Runaways or something.

Probably bogus, to be honest I really believe Tom Welling expected to at least get an audition for the new Superman movie. He is so far in with Warner Bros that he could take his producer paycheck from Hellcats for the next 4-5 years and retire. He doesn't really seem to want to do anything else at least from the interviews I've seen.

Hmmm very...strange? Maybe it is Dr.Strange considering what a strange casting choice that would be. I'd rather he play Superman in a future Justice League film if they want to differentiate it from the Nolan and Snyder universes of Batman and Superman and cast different actors then Bale and Cavil to play the roles in a superhero team up.

Ed is quoting the source there, not making that bet himself.

But he's clearly up for VISION! Wooden acting is perfect for an android. :p

The only Marvel character he could possibly play is Mark Milton, Hyperion from Squadron Supreme.
