So, as you all know (unless you've been hiding under a rock for the last month), Marvel Studios has announced 8 new movies! While we don't know for sure what these films will be, we all have a pretty sure idea what
of them will be. Here is my list:
1.) July 8, 2016: Doctor Strange
Ok, this one is pretty obvious. With Marvel announcing Scott Derrickson (Sinister) to direct and Jon Spaihts (Prometheus) to write, this movie is obviously the next movie after Captain America 3 (coming May 6, 2016). Who will star as The Sorcerer Supreme is yet to be determined. I'm also pretty sure we might see the Soul Gem in this film...
Again, obvious, but not as much. Clearly, Thor 3 will come 2017. Which month is tricky, but the first Thor was released on May 6, 2011 so this release date is not out of the question. And since Guardings of the Galaxy 2 will be releaed next and Doctor Strange most likely released on the date before May 5, I really doubt Marvel will release two new franchises in a row. And also, this is the next confirmed Marvel movie, so it seems likely. This should also have a gem in it.
3.) July 28, 2017: Guardians of the Galaxy 2
This movies date obviously has been confirmed, so I don't need to talk about it. If Thor 3 doesn't have a gem, this has to.
4.) November 3, 2017: Black Panther
Black Panther is a character that has been requested by any sane person not trapped in Gusto's basement. Even Marvel and Kevin Feige himself have said they'd be up to bringing the king of Wakanda to the big screen. So why not? Even Stan "The Man" Lee has said that there "Will be a movie pretty soon". Now, just because Stan Lee says Marvel is making Black Panther doesn't mean we will see him. But, Marvel has already introduced Vibranium, and it's rumored that Wakanda will make some sort of appearance in Avengers: Age of Ultron. And the sooner Marvel does this, the better. And if not Black Panther, I'd assume Ms. Marvel is another possibility.(I'd rather see Black Panther, though...)
5.) May 4, 2018: Iron Man 4? Hulk 2!?
(Pardon this big-ass picture...) Okay, okay. Now this is where it gets tricky. What will be released on May 4, 2018? Could it be an Incredible Hulk 2? Or could it possibly be Iron Man 4? Recently, Kevin Feige and Robert Downey Jr. have both stated they'd both be up for Iron Man 4, but it's all up to Marvel and Disney. Could we finally see the true Mandarin? Or is Iron Man 3 the last of the Iron Man series? Personally, I think each series in the MCU should stop at a trilogy to keep it neat, but there are just so many places they could go with all these characters! And I'd love to see more Iron Man. This could also be a sequel to 2008's The Incredible Hulk. Many fans have wanted an adaptation of the popular Planet Hulk storyline, but I believe that Marvel shouldn't go just there. Yet. I think we should see The Leader (who could possibly escape S.H.I.E.L.D custody on Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D) and have General Ross become Red Hulk. There were all those samples of Bruce Banner's blood in TIH (which obviously was used to set up a sequel.), so who knows what else is possible? But, since Marvel and Joss Whedon have both stated how difficult it is to make a stand alone Hulk movie, this might not be the way to go. They did say Hulk works better with other characters, so maybe they could have Black Widow, Hawkeye, or Nick Fury involved? Either way, I would save Planet Hulk for Phase 4, leading up to a Avengers 4 based on World War Hulk. And who knows, it might be another Marvel film altogether. Ms. Marvel, maybe?
6.) July 6, 2018: Ant Man 2
The reason I say
Ant Man 2 is because the first
Ant Man will be released in July 2015. Also, because Marvel has said that each year, they will make a sequel and a new franchise. And this new franchise I believe will be...
7.) November 2, 2018: Inhumans
Hmm...This could be very right, but also very wrong. Vin Diesel has hinted at playing Black Bolt in a phase 3 Inhumans movie, but he could be trolling us like with Groot. I do have a feeling this might be it, though. The Inhumans will be the MCU version of mutants. This date could belong to another movie, but I'd like to think maybe The Inhumans will help The Avengers against Thanos. Or not, because god forbid, too many characters! Speaking of Avengers...
8.) May 3, 2019: The Avengers 3
Obviously. After all this will be opening in the month of every single Avengers film by then. In this, Thanos gets all 6 Gems and the Infinity Gauntlet, he comes to earth to kill The Avengers and destroy the universe to please his boner. Whether Lady Death will make an appearance (maybe to revive some fallen Avengers?) remains to be seen. I'm not entirely sure how those rights work. Similar to Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, I assume. This film should involve The Guardians of the Galaxy teaming with The Avengers to stop The Mad Titan. Do you guys think they will add other heroes, too? Or would it become too crowded?
So, that's what I think will happen during this long-ass phase 3. So, if I am correct, from The Avengers: Age of Ultron to The Avengers 3 should consist of:
Avengers: Age of Ultron (May 1, 2015)
Ant-Man (July 17, 2015)
Captain America 3 (May 6, 2016)
Doctor Strange (July 8, 2016)
Thor 3 (May 5, 2017)
Guardians of the Galaxy 2 (July 28, 2017)
Black Panther (November 3, 2017)
Iron Man 4, Hulk 2, Ms. Marvel? (May 4, 2018)
Ant Man 2 (July 6, 2018)
Inhumans (November 2, 2018)
Avengers 3 (May 3, 2019)
So, what do you guys think? Does this sound pretty accurate to you? Or am I talking out of my ass? What do you agree with? Disagree with? Which movies do you think we'll get? Let me know in the comments below. Thanos out!
