its a great show, but lets be honest its on NBC and IF it gets renewed they will retool it to death like so many other great series featured on their network.
that network is run by idiots.

John C is my favorite comic character, but I'm not really going to miss this version of him. DC screwed up by overly sanitizing him and giving the series a weak title. They can't place the blame with fans. I don't know if I can handle another moment of G-rated, New-52, barely-a-smoker Constantine. It feels like watching Chuck Norris bake cupcakes.
End it. Try again in 5 years on a real network that has balls.

Barely a smoker? Have you even been watching the show? Last few eps have had him smoking more than everyone on network TV for the last 20 years combined. It's almost as if the producers got their season cut short, so they said f-u to NBC.

@fightingcommander
there is more smoking in batman:TAS than this, thats sad for the character.

Holding or lipping a cigarette is not the same as smoking. He didn't take an actual drag until the final episode. But that's just a matter of budgeting the money to pay the network fines.
I'm talking about how safe the show plays it, when it should be as ghastly as Hannibal or Walking Dead. And it could stand to be a lot more offensive to the righteous if they want people to start conversations about it.

Golden.

Snorestantine had its chance. Good riddance.

Freaking cool show. If another network has the common sense to pick this up that'd be great.

What the big deal about the smoking anyways, that's not actually what the show is about. it's a good strong show and all you dudes do is bitch and wine about him sparking up. Nerds.

The season finale was fantastic! NBC needs to renew this show. It's better than Supernatural.

If they could just move it to Thursdays nights and increase the marketing, the ratings would increase.

"Holding or lipping the cigarette is not the same as actually smoking" and "didn't take an actual drag till the final episode"???

THIS is what matters to some here, now? For one, the fact that his character is even HOLDING a cigarette on tv, that very act of him holding and lipping a cig, and most recently him -- get this -- ACTUALLY SMOKING; does any of that NOT imply that his character smokes??

Did I really have to explain that, just now?

..oh, great show btw

There should be a spoiler warning here, it's a HUGE revelation at the end of the show.

I hated the show for the first few episodes, and I still think the production values and the music are a bit Syfy.

But in terms of stories and scripts, acting and dialogue, the show has really redeemed itself (! :) )in my eyes, and I very much hope it continues. It would probably be more suited to a niche channel like Syfy anyway.

And actually, not the least of the redeeming qualities is that Constantine is now smoking. That's how he should be, as a character, the cigarette hanging out of his mouth is as much a part of him as his hardcore attitude and his quips.

the walking dead (tv) is like the days of our lives once you get over the wow factor of the zombies.

@Luther... Because not smoking is the most visible way to pussify him, which is something that is already happening at unacceptable levels. It's a constant reminder that this is Constantine-Lite, not the irreverent comic that terrified and sickened me my entire life.
I should've known from the start when we saw that Astra didn't lose an arm. They played it too safe.

peeps hating on this show can [frick]ing eat one.

The should use Ryan for JLDArk and then relaunch the series with the same characters and actors on a network that doesn't have a peacock up its ass.

@Rabid. Though I disagree with you on your stance on not really going by context clues with his smoking, cause he obviously still does. I will agree that this IS Constantine-Lite. As Preacher will be. These are properties that should be on HBO or other premium channels. For budget and content reasons alike.

I think they're doing a decent job for it being on network television. I definitely prefer it over AOS and Arrow, that's for damn sure.

The show started very strong, but I feel that it has been losing its edge. I would rather see it cancel now than see it sink even further.
