NBC Moving CONSTANTINE To SyFy? Rebranding Series As HELLBLAZER?

The unknown fate of the NBC supernatural drama, Constantine, has been a hot topic among fans ever since November of last year when NBC decided not to order the back-half of the first season. With the topic gaining much more traction due to Constantine not being among those renewed for NBC's season of 2015-2016 in yesterdays press release, fans have begun to worry if this means the series is indeed cancelled. Now a new rumor coming from Cinelinx is saying that NBC is not yet ready to throw in the towel for Constantine and are looking for ways to keep the show alive. According to their sources one very possible idea being thrown around amongst the show-heads is moving the series over to sister channel SyFy, an idea thrown around by many fans as well, and rebranding it as Hellblazer. Now if this does indeed happen the only thing changing would be the name and channel as the same cast would be kept. Also moving the series over to SyFy would give the show a little more freedom to explore the daker aspect of the comics, something many fans think a network like NBC wouldn't allow. The website does say that this isn't a 100% done deal, but it is something NBC is heaviley considering so take it with a grain of salt, but don't be suprised if NBC announces that Constantine is moving to SyFy and being rebranded as Hellblazer. Also I want to mention Constantine production designer, Dave Blass tweeted out a similar article using the same source.

So what do you guys think? Do you think NBC is going to move Constantine over to SyFy and rebrand it as Hellblazer? Or do you think NBC will just give the series the axe once its 13 episode run is up? Leave your thoughts in the comment section below!

It's nice to see someone finally pick up and post on this rumor. I hope for one it's true. SyFy has been bringing out some good shows recently and I think Hellblazer could be a big hit for them too.

If this is true then it kinda makes sense cause Goyer's developing Krypton for Syfy.

NBC renewal or SyFy pickup...either will do. I really like this show! They need to keep at it, there is soooo much potential here! I still want Spectre, Swamp-Thing, Dr Fate, Deadman, Zantana and/or Zatara, The Phantom Stranger, Frankenstein, etc... to show up at some point. The darker more mystical DC universe! Booyahcasha! Also, I assume the "black diamond" thing was the Heart of Darkness gem of Eclipso's.....bring on Eclipso! Besides, unless a show is just absolutely terrible and disliked, I think all series should be given a chance at 2 seasons....usually takes two to establish their footing. Look at AoS. Granted I have loved it since it started, but it has definitely gotten better in season two and more people are enjoying it now as well it seems.

also, completely off topic, but I was thinking about this earlier....I really wish Netflix or Hulu or Yahoo! or someone would grab My Name is Earl for one last season....still so disappointed with how it ended...

I liked this show a lot :( (watched 5 eps)

"Also moving the series over to SyFy would give the show a little more freedom to explore the darker aspect of the comics"

And a really small fraction of the viewership, but I hope this show still succeeds. It deserves it!

@AsapJoker

i was thinking the same thing, it would be so much better if it went to netflix. They could make it so much darker.

Syfy's been on the rise. Yeah, they have shows/movies specifically targeted at "fans" of The Asylum. That one show being Z Nation.
Their current line-up, though, consists of 12 Monkeys, Dominion, Helix, Defiance, Haven, Continuum, Bitten, and Lost Girl.

Suffice is to say, Constantine, atm, isn't really that SFX heavy of a show.
SyFy could afford to take it to another level.

1. Syfy is a much better channel than it once was. They have quality shows (12 Monkeys being one of them).

2. Syfy recently had a marathon of Constantine episodes on their channel and it had a large viewership. If anything it seems moving to Syfy might help it gain views.

Wow I'd forgotten about some of the stuff SyFy have been putting out in recent years. And the Hellblazer rebrand is such a good idea! Let's do this.

Netflix pick and choose (very carefully) about the shows they produce. They like focusing much more on their original shows (Marco Polo, Orange Is The New Black, House Of Cards etc.). Add the Defenders and they've already sorted their superhero quota.

SyFy is NBC's sister channel - it's far more logical to see it move there.
