SDCC '13: Marc Webb Teases Spider-Man And Electro Combat Scenarios

Director Marc Webb confirms footage will be shown during tomorrow's SDCC panel for "The Amazing Spider-Man" but states that Rhino scenes will unfortunately not be included as the vfx are not ready. He also describes how Electro combats Spider-Man in the film.

There's definitely going to be footage from "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" show during tomorrow's San Deigo Comic Con panel, however, director Marc Webb states that fans won't get a peek at the Rhino. Webb says that what fans will see tomorrow is unfinished footage and that the visuals for Rhino are no where close to being presentation worthy.

Touching on Electro (Jamie Foxx), Webb gave a quick example of how the villain will combat Spider-Man in the film. Said Webb on the electricity based villain, "He's somebody who just his touch has the power of a thousand third rails and will obliterate anybody near him." He continued, "I think it's incredibly exciting to play with that kind of power. Spider-Man's greatest weapon is that web and when he shoots a web at Electro, there's a current and webs are conductive and that's going to pose some real issues for Spider-Man so I thought that was a really fun villain to unleash on New York and on Spider-Man."

Moving back to the Rhino, Webb also stated that the villain only makes a "teasing appearance" in the film and that Electro is the primary antagonist. Perhaps all the other villains said to feature, also are regulated to "teasing cameos" as setup for future installments?

Maybe the Rhino is part of an OsCorp experiment gone wrong and he's only in one fight scene?

my main concern is in the full interview Webb says that Harry and Peter were friends when they were young,so if they were old friends , why wasnt he mentioned in the first film?

Gusto's broke now. Detroit's bankrupted. Hell he probably has no wi-fi to get on this site anymore.

We may never know if Gusto is still with us or not.

Firgosaurus - I doubt that that'll actually happen because it doesn't seem all that creative and Peter Parker would no better, but they need to show that Peters is somewhat of a genius in this movie someway.

I hope Webb shows that Peter is smart and genius and can come out of trouble by using brains not just fists. Theres 2 things I always hoped to see but never gets shown in the respected movies, Detective Batman and Smart Spidey.

You couldn't also fit a Nic Cage Ghost Rider cameo telling Spidey he's putting a team together?

"Maybe the Rhino is part of an OsCorp experiment gone wrong and he's only in one fight scene?"

That's what I'm guessing...actually the opening scene, to show how far Peter's come since the end of the last film.

@LEVITIKUZ dude.... water + electricity = bad times . Electro shouldn't really be effected by water.....he isn't fire based...if anything it would make things more deadly for spider-man lol. I'm thinking the only way to beat him is to drain his power and contain him in his suit.

If I recall in the early issues of Amazing Spider-Man he used rubber gloves and rubber slippers and tied himself with a fire hose to defeat Electro.

So I guess this means no Spidey fighting Electro and Rhino at the same time :(

Ah well hopefully with the possible Sinister Six set up we'll get an epic battle of the century!
