SDCC: Lucasfilm Bringing 'Special Look' At STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS
Though Disney-owned Marvel Studios is skipping this year's San Diego Comic-Con, Lucasfilm will be present and will showcase a special look at J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Find out who will be in attendance.
Some Star Wars fans were fearful that Disney would hold back its presentation for Star Wars: The Force Awakens at this year's San Diego Comic-Con. It was a warranted fear as Disney is keeping Marvel Studios out of SDCC altogether in favor of this year's D23 Expo in August. But it appears that The Force Awakens will will have a significant presence as something 'special' will be shared during Friday's Lucasfilm panel. Star Wars fans are already speculating that a new trailer will be shown.

It sounds as if Abrams, Kasdan and a few members of The Force Awakens cast will be in attendance on Friday. It's also likely that a new trailer will be shown as well. The question then becomes whether said trailer will be released online or if it's designed to be a SDCC-only release. Furthermore, what will Lucasfilm show at D23? Will it be the same footage? Given how secretive Abrams traditionally is with his film production it's likely that any footage shown at SDCC or D23 will not be released online. Good luck keeping bootlegs from popping up online.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens, or Stars Wars: Episode VII, is the upcoming seventh live-action installment in the theatrical Star Wars franchise and is intended to be the first film of an entirely new sequel trilogy. J.J. Abrams directs from a script he penned in collaboration with Lawrence Kasdan and Michael Arndt. The film will be released on December 18, 2015. Original trilogy cast members Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Peter Mayhew, Anthony Daniels, and Kenny Baker are all returning to reprise their roles. New additions joining the franchise include John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, and Adam Driver, Lupita Nyong'o, Gwendoline Christie, Christina Chong, Miltos Yerolemou and Billie Lourd.
