Star Wars Fans Out in "Force" at WonderCon

The San Diego Comic Convention’s sister event, WonderCon, is a smaller, more intimate convention dedicated to comic book fans and creators, but that hasn't stopped Rebels, Imperials, Sith and bounty hunters from crashing the party!

Wow! I have been a Star Wars fan for as long as I have been an X-Men fan. Empire Strikes Back is one of the BEST movies of all time. I love comic conventions just to see how good some of the costumes these people wear are, though I've yet to grow the cahones to do the costume thing myself. These pics are actually pretty good. The Rebel Pilot looks kinda like Wedge Antilles. The 2 Sith from KoToR2 are amazing and Vader looks a lil tubby but great costume. I dunno who the chic is with the rifle, but I would do... things with her... as long as she kept the costume on.

Yeah, I was there on Friday! Almost all costumes were Star Wars-related. There were dozens of troopers, several Leias--including a "Slave Leia"--and a couple Fetts!

Vader was actually pretty tall and not tubby at all!

Yeah, Friday was almost all Star Wars! There were two fan organizations present: the 501st Legion and the Rebel Legion - Endor Base. If you're interested in designing or building your own costume, look these groups up on the internet. They appear at all kinds of events.

I've got a bunch more pictures from Saturday that I'll be posting, so come back for more!

Yeah, "little" is right! Take off her boots and she would be, like, 5' tall, tops!

As soon as she stopped and posed for me, a dozen other dudes rolled up to take pics.

Now this brings back some memories for me.. the conventions rock! Small or big ones the spirit of fan-gathering is always there.

-My avatar photo was actually taken during a 2002 convention(well now It is CG-enhanced!),here in Mexico.Rick McCallum Peter Mayhem and Lucasfilm Fan-Relations Steve Sansweet came here back then.
I tried to be Episode II´s Anakin (some guys asked me if i was some kind of beardless Qui-Gon because of the poncho! haha).. i even had the hair trend hanging from my left ear, some odd boots, the Episode I´s almost useless commtech at my belt and a weird, old shirt that fit the costume but that i couldn´t wear anywhere else! LOL!..

..AAAAHH those were the days.. i even had the age of Episode II´s Anakin back then.. ok a little tear is coming.. sniff ;..-]

Thank you so much Brent for bringing this up here! :-]

Spock, SirJediFrank & everyone else...you're welcome! I love this stuff as much as you guys (and gals)!

Tobuttica...I checked out that Nihilus costume up close and it was top-notch! Hand-made with love, obviously!

Funny story...
I'm at SDCC'07, waiting in line to get a pretzel, and there are two Jedis standing in line behind me. They had immaculate costumes! Very heavy weight, those really expensive lightsaber handles, ponytails, the works. So, I start talking to these guys about how cool their costumes are and they're real proud of them, and then I ask, "So, do you guys have Jedi names?" They both turn to me--no joke--with disgusted looks on their faces and one guy says, "Geez, we're not that into it. What are you, weird or something?"

I...was...speechless! Apparently, there are some lines that even cos-play fans do not cross.

Dude! I was soooo close to saying that to at least three Troopers!

I was tempted to saw that, as well! I never understood what that line meant before--like, was there a height requirement to be a Stormtrooper--but now that we know that most Stormtroopers are clones, it makes sense!

lol. I so would've been that douche walking around saying that to people.

SirJediFrank: I know what you mean. I too thought I had the look for Episode II Anakin, in fact, I still think I'd have done a much better job than Hayden Christenssen(or however you spell his name). I think I still have the pic's I had of myself dressed as Anakin before the release of Episode III, themed based on his appearance on Mustafar before Obi-Wan arrives. It was good.

I love Comic Con's. I gotta say one of the most realistic costume's I've ever seen was a group of people as the Borg in Nashville. I literally thought these guys were employed by some company and were professionally done, they looked that good. But behold, they were just normal fans like us. And there was like 5 of them. Although, it's hard to say exactly how many there were, they all looked alike lol. Such a level of dedication and appreciation for detail has to be respected.
