Before Ben Affleck Becomes Batman, Let's Remember Everything Wrong With DAREDEVIL

Cinema Sin's latest video focuses on Mark Steven Johnson's Daredevil (2003), that starred Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner. To be fair, the director's cut is much better than the theatrical version.

By day, blind attorney Matt Murdock (Ben Affleck) toils for justice in Hell's Kitchen. By night, he's Daredevil, The Man Without Fear - a powerful, masked vigilante stalking the dark streets with an uncanny radar sense that allows him to "see" with superhuman capabilities. But when the love of his life, fiery Elektra Natchios (Jennifer Garner), is targeted by New York City's ruthless kingpin of crime (Michael Clarke Duncan) and his deadly assassin Bullseye (Colin Farrell), Daredevil may be about to meet his match.

Daredevil (2003) was written and directed by Mark Steven Johnson. The cast included: Ben Affleck as Matt Murdock / Daredevil, Jennifer Garner as Elektra Natchios, Colin Farrell as Bullseye, Michael Clarke Duncan as Wilson Fisk / The Kingpin, Jon Favreau as Franklin 'Foggy' Nelson, Scott Terra as Young Matt, Ellen Pompeo as Karen Page and Joe Pantoliano as Ben Urich. The film earned $179 million at the worldwide box office, against a budget of $78 million.

The director's was indeed way better, but it failed to fix the one and only mistake of this film: AFFLECK'S STUPID FACE! Lol why did he have that stupid look on his face for half the movie? Hope he's learned a buttload acting since then, for Batman's sake.

Director's cut

Had a little more than 20minutes of extra scenes

Plus alternate scenes too(for example instead of Matt screwing Elektra, he leaves instead, cause of a fight that was going on)

Honestly the movie isnt terrible

Director's cut was a big improvement over the theatrical release. There was still unneeded cheese, like the playground fight. But you get to see a lot more of Matt & Foggy in the courtroom which was really enjoyable to watch. Not to mention the action was a little more hard hitting.

I'm still waiting for a someone to take a stab at adapting Bendis' run. Murdock being outed by the press as Daredevil, declaring himself the new Kingpin. Great stuff.

so it looks like Ben will use his DareDevil voice for his Batman voice oh boy...the only thing that was entertaining about that movie was bullseye.

I agree with everyone else, Director's Cut was way better. That scene where he has the dude in the car and keeps smashing it into the wall to mess em up. Thats showed a totally different side to Affleck's Daredevil.

It's kind of funny how Fox released this turd, and one of the best CBMs of all time (X2) in the same year.

This movie isn't near as bad as some of u claim. I still enjoy watching it and think its better that some current CBMs. Yes it's dated but wen it came out it was [frick]in awesome. I've always stood behind this movie and some of u kno it's not bad but can't admit it over ur blind hatred for Affleck who was great as DD and will own as Bats. Plus the end fight with Kingpin is very brutal in the directors cut.

I only ever saw the Directors cut of Daredevil, so I was never sure why people thought it was a bad movie. Judging by what I've heard, I probly never will watch the theatrical version

@wolverine- it's funny how Fox released an even bigger turd "the wolverine" the same year as Man of Steel I was ready to walk out of Wolverine after the first hour that film felt like it was made in 2001. BTW Cyclops>>>Wolverine.

Directors cut is waay better, I seriously don't think Marvel Stidios can pull off a dark and gritty superhero like the unrated Dardevil. And I say that cause of Disney and the fact that if a movie was done, they install too much humor.

Trust me guys Directors Cut is good
Best parts
1. The brutal fight between kingpin vs daredevil
2. Coolios' story was well put together into the movie
3. Matt and Foggy interaction is pretty good and funny at times
4. Alot of the fight scenes are alot more clearer to dreams well do, especially the bar fight scene, showing daredevil getting a beating a few times with these guys
5. A few of the bad scenes in theatrical version had been change, soo for are good

Everybody seems to be forgetting one small possible detail about Ben Affleck playing Batman in this Superman movie; it's NOT a solo Batman movie, it's Superman. My point is, he might not even have a big part in it. So, we might only see maybe, tops, 20-30 minutes of screen time of Batman, or even less. I can deal with that, cause it's obvious they're going to be dealing a lot more with the events of the first Man of Steel and of course a new villain for Superman. So in my humble opinion, for that little work, he could be very good or even excellent, cause he won't have too many scenes to act in. Wishful thinking, I know, but let's wait and see. It will be interesting.

Everyone hates the playground scene. It was hammy, and not by accident. It was foreplay. It was physical flirtation of two martial artists.
To hate that scene, you'd have to also hate the bit from the Animatrix where the two are doing a striptease sort of sparring in the simulator. Just less cool in Daredevil.

If you watch the extras on the directors cut you'll quickly see that the producer forced all the extra footage out of the movie, thereby rendering the theatrical release to the crap pile. The directors cut, on the other hand, is a great/fun film to watch.
