Kevin Feige Talks DAREDEVIL And PUNISHER; "We’re Trying To Figure Out What To Do"

Talking at today's press junket for Thor: The Dark World in London, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige offered an update of sorts on what they have planned for the Man Without Fear and even teases a possible appearance of The Punisher somewhere down the line. Read on for details!

"We’re trying to figure out what to do with Daredevil now," Kevin Feige told Bleeding Cool at today's press junket for Thor: The Dark World. Marvel Studios regained the rights to the character last year, when Fox's planned reboot - which would have been directed by Joe Carnahan - failed to move into development in time. "Punisher could show up at one point. You know, once we get characters back into the Marvel fold we don’t want to do something right away, we want to do the smart thing at the smart time." Some fans believe Daredevil should be brought to television, while equally as many think he deserves another shot at big screen glory. With the tone of Mark Waid's Eisner Award winning series far less dark and gritty than previous runs, it's surprising that Marvel Studios haven't looked at these issues for inspiration when it comes to a PG-13 Daredevil movie which fits into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. What do you guys think?

Awesome...I'd rather wait for a great movie that fits well than something lackluster.

@DudeGuyMan

I'd be so down with a Daredevil show, especially on FX.

I'd like DD to be a bit darker than the current MCU, though T:TDW does look more serious than whats come before.

Add these characters to "Marvel Knights" and have them be on the more "grounded route" in Marvel's cinematic universe.

Characters like...

-Punisher
-Black Panther
-Ghost Rider
-Luke Cage & Iron Fist
-Daredevil
-Electra
-Moon Knight
-Blade
-Cloak and Dagger

..aren't all traveling in space and doing all of that crazy alien battling. So why can't these adaptions show the grittiness and (in some cases) realism in the Marvel universe? Even if they gave these characters TV shows I'd be cool with it. You wouldn't really be taking that much of a risk and there would be no mass of critics claiming that it's too dark for general audiences and all of that BS.

I think that Daredevil, Punisher, Black Panther, Heroes for Hire and most certainly Ghost Rider all deserve the right movie treatment.

Guest appearances... these two should never get a solo flick from Marvel. Ghost Rider too when Marvel gets him back. You simply have those 3 pop up in other people movies.

Omega that would be awesome lmfao. Wat if Crossbones (who weve been led to believe wont fully suit up in TWS) AND Castle were in Cap 3?

All the Marvel Knight stuff could be great tv shows, on something other than ABC.

It might be cool to see Ghost Rider show up in a Dr. Strange movie. Fold all their supernatural properties into one.

I think every character in Marvel can be done on a PG-13 scale besides punisher. I think they can all be done well. Some of these guys should be done on tv though.

As long as they are both in the same movie/TV show together, I'll be very happy, 2 of my favourite characters.

What if Marvel did what Del Toro is doing with that "Dark Justice League" film and have all of these characters Origins be told in one film?

Daredevil, Punisher, Ghost Rider, Blade and Heroes for Hire?

Or would that be too much to cram in??? lol

Daredevil and The Punisher deserve R-rated television shows since films obviously didn't work out for them. The numbers for Agents of SHIELD prove that people can keep up, so lets get the numbers like that of Game of Thrones with some adult-oriented programming for a change-up from the PG-13 films getting the big box-office gold.

Although there was a serious tone shift from Iron Man and TIH to Cap, Thor, and The Avengers, so maybe going dark again after A3 would work. But Marvel has to keep doing what they are doing; consistent tones with different themes. I don't think they could have a film with the tone of The Avengers with DD. Maybe after the main cast leaves they will use the opportunity to "reboot" the tone that would allow for more characters while still maintaining the other films. It would be a harsh transition from a film with RDJ and comedy to a dark and grey film right after. Once the main cast leaves the can go and re establish themselves with a universe wide tone similar to TIH, allowing for more lea way for comedy or grit. That's the way I see it.

Another great theory my good sir! lol

@VV how could you not have a movie about Wonderwomen? The fact is daredevil doesn't really advance the universe. He is a vigilante, not someone who is going to open a corner of the Universe we havn't seen yet.

Bendis run on DD could be a good inspiration for the DD reboot.

SN: Potential good director for a reboot of The Punisher- Neil Marshall.

@VV thats not what I'm saying, what I'm saying is daredevil is a character that doesn't add anything new to the table. He is a vigilante.Wonder women is the only A list hero not to have a film by now so yeah I do want her to get a movie already. You assume a wonderwomen film will automatically fail?

I agree with an earlier comment, pretty much every Marvel character can be PG-13 without being watered down. Punisher, would be tricky to escape a PG-13 with unless they just don't show the blood and tone down the language. I love me some Punisher and The Man Without Fear but I'm more excited for the possibility of a return from Marvel's Spirit of Vengeance. Doctor Strange reopens that door.
