A rumor (though it was really more like speculation based on a vague post from Batman on Film) that John Krasinski had either been cast or was in the running to play Batman in the upcoming Brave and the Bold movie did the rounds online earlier today, and James Gun has now responded.
The DC Studios co-CEO was asked if there was any truth to the Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness actor being in contention to play Bruce Wayne on Threads, and after first pointing out that he hadn't heard anything about this particular rumor, he offered an update on the status of the project.
Not too surprisingly, there's been no movement on The Brave and the Bold since the strikes got underway, and the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 director confirms that they don't even have a completed script.
Though The Flash director Andy Muschietti recently signed on to helm the DCU reboot, the project has yet to assign a screenwriter (that we know of), which means any casting announcements are likely still a long way off.
Along with a new take on the Caped Crusader, The Brave and the Bold will introduce a very different Robin in the form of Damian Wayne, a "murderous tween raised by assassins who also happens to be the son Batman never knew he had."
The Boys and Supernatural star Jensen Ackles seems to be a fan-favorite choice to play the iconic Gotham City vigilante, and revealed that he'd be more than open to taking on the role during a recent fan-event appearance.
"Look, right now nobody's talking about anything. There's a strike going on in the entertainment industry, and until that gets solved, nobody is having conversations about anything. Would I entertain the idea of playing my favorite superhero of all time? Nah, I'm good (laughs)...sounds like a lot of work. I would love it. Sign me up."
