When asked about how they'd approach Deadpool appearing in one of their Avengers films, directors Joe and Anthony Russo responded that they would first need to lock themselves away for two months before they could even attempt to answer the question.

"He breaks the 4th wall so it changes tones," stated Joe just as Anthony quickly added, " I would tell you this, and this is how we craft all of these moments, we would literally lock ourselves in a room for two months and discuss this question before we could arrive at an answer."

Anthony then went on to address the type of questions they'd ask each other over the course of those hypothetical two months, stating, "Philosophically [we'd investigate], are the new rules with the character, 'Is he not allowed to break the fourth wall? Would that damage the character?' So you have to figure out how you would incorporate the tone of what's happening in the MCU with a character like that."

With Disney's acquisition of 20th Century Fox now final, Disney CEO and Chairman Bob Iger openly confirmed that Ryan Reynolds' Wade Wilson will survive the merger, while the fate of other characters (like Josh Brolin's Cable and Zazie Beets' Domino) remains unknown.

@QUITEMASSIVE - yes. Similar to what they do with the Guardians

@QUITEMASSIVE - Deadpool is great in his own films. I'm not sure he should cross over into Avengers films. You run the risk of doing what he does in the comics and turning everything with a serious tone in a comedic tone.

Uncanny X-Force is the only series to handle Deadpool correctly. If they must include him in crossovers, make it like that. Without him crossing the 4th wall.

In my opinion he should have solo only films that are firmly planted in the MCU. But he's not necessary for important crossover films.

I trust them to incorporate Deadpool in an interesting way. Same goes for the X-Men / Fantastic Four. With Reynolds though, it will be especially interesting because you have the actor coming over as well - not just the character.

@L0RDbuckethead - they could replace all the actors , even in the avengers but it would be real hard to replace Reynolds

I think I'd still have Deadpool break the fourth wall but not as often as his film did it. Maybe instead of talking directly to the screen all the time you can have him making passing remarks about characters he's interacting with on a meta level. Like say he sees Cap and he goes "I thought your contract was up!"

@DnA - Deadpool IS mentally unhinged, so having him break the fourth wall with a snide comment and then having him shown from behind just after it with all the Avengers looking at him talking to thin air and then at each other going “who the hell is he talking to?” would be both funny and a reinforcement of his mental instability to both audiences and the rest of the team.

@DnA - If he is in an Avengers movie or in someone else's movies he shouldn't break the fourth wall or be too meta, maybe sometimes do something extremely clever and funny where he doesn't really break the fourth wall or goes too meta but almost does it, just make his character funny without ruining the movie's serious tone, like Drax on Infinity War, and then he can just do whatever he wants on his own movies because everybody knows those movies have their own rules and don't necessarily have an effect on what happens on other MCU movies, like they didn't on the Foxmen universe.

@Necropolitan - I would kill to see him interact with spiderman, a nieve heroic but awkward kid interacting with an insane mersenary who takes everything as a joke to him. There is so much material here, there are many things they can learn from one another.

man, there really has been A LOT of talks about Deadpool lately. that and the fact that his face is what shows on the new Disney banner instead of any other given X-Men tells me these guys may already have plans for him and may set them in motion in a relatively short time.

@Spidey91 - not surprising; Deadpool is a proven moneymaking franchise; Disney wants more of that.

"openly confirmed that Ryan Reynold's Wade Wilson will survive the merger."

Surviving a merger is exactly the sort of material that a 4th-wall-breaking character would thrive on.

@TheAstoundingMan - yeah I don’t get why they’re overthinking this. It’s not exactly hard to write for Deadpool , he basically writes himself you just need to think of a wacky scenario

@campblood - It's good to overthink...More time to brainstorm then develop a well thought out plan and then executing those written wacky scenarios properly.
