The latest box office numbers for Deadpool 2 place the X-Men spinoff at $705 million worldwide ($304.1M domestic and $400.9M international), making 21st Century Fox's second solo outing for Ryan Reynolds' motormouth mutant mercenary the third highest-grossing R-rated film ever.

DEADPOOL 2 SPOILERS: All Of The Most Shocking Moments, Biggest Reveals, Unexpected Cameos And More

Director David Leitch's sequel surpassed the It remake to claim the #3 spot, though it hasn't quite managed to catch its predecessor, and it's also coming in just under The Matrix Reloaded.

Just like the first Deadpool, the sequel was never released in China, which makes this feat all the more impressive.

Star Ryan Reynolds has suggested that this will be the end for The Merc With a Mouth's solo adventures, but money talks, and the studio may well decide to rethink that.

I bet these films will have diminishing returns with each sequel, like most comedies do.

@Magus - this one cost twice as much as the first.

I guess I'm the only one who preferred the second one to the first one.

Wait... The matrix reloaded was rated r? That seems kinda crazy to me.

@BigDriggs - I'm pretty sure all 3 Matrix movies are Rated R in the US

They aren't in Canada. I can't remember if the first one was PG14 at the time for 18A

@BigDriggs - It's totally crazy. There was no blood, no gore and the violence was PG-13 level in all of the Matrix films. The only things that might justify an R-rating are language and a decidedly non-graphic sex scene.

It’s puzzling that xforce starts filming this October but has no release date

I've seen it 3x .. with three different groups of friends.

I now like it more then the first film. There are many jokes I missed the first time around due to laughing etc

Also knowing the cameos going into it again made it even better.

The blink and you miss it major A Lister is so much more obvious upon multiple viewings and it was even funnier when you know who it is

Also .. and this isn't a spoiler .. Matt Damon and Alan Tudyk are the red necks if you all didn't know or notice. It took 3 viewings for me to realize it was Damon. Matty D is the one talking about the real way to use the toilet lol

I really enjoyed it. Already pre-ordered it on Amazon

So if it had released in China it could've been a billion dollar movie.

It's funny to think that it went from a franchise that Fox had zero interest in making to becoming a global hit.

@bcom - Exactly!

I still don't totally understand why Logan got released in China but China won't allow DP1 or 2 to be released

@hwayobi83 - According to sources familiar with the matter, 20th Century Fox, which has successfully released several R-rated films, including Logan, Alien: Covenant, and The Shape of Water, in China, hasn’t managed to make the film pass the Chinese censorship.

@bigdannymac - Yeah, I think it purely came down to trying to get the films rated. The first film would've had to of cut a lot of the movie or re-record some of the dialogue to tone it down so they decided not to spend the time and money on it. I guess they decided to do the same with the second one too.

Haven't seen it yet (and likely won't until home release), but going by the pretty damn impressive numbers I wasn't missed. Another $40m and it'd pass DoFP, to further cement Deadpool's rule over the X-franchise.

Saw it last week. I pretty much liked it just as much as the first. Pretty funny to see how nearly identical the two scores are on RT:
