Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.

Starring Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, T.J. Miller, Ed Skrein, Gina Carano, and Brianna Hildebrand, Deadpool is set to be released on February 12th, 2016. You can check out my review HERE.

I dont wannabe that guy, but its not a game changer.

I'm sure the movie is fantastic, great , and hilarious. Could be the best CBM ever. Thats fine. That all has its own merit.

But to say its a game changer, implying this movie will change the way CBMs are done? Nah.
I dont want them to give the Deadpool treatment to any other property. The fourth wall breaking, his humor, it all works FOR HIM.

I would even say that this movie could be a game changer for opening up R rated CBMs, but Kick-Ass and Kingsman already told us they can work. This is a great reinforcement though.

The critics who bring up the imaginary CBM fatigue can also suck c0cks! :D

@crawley - I point those out just because they are in more recent memory of the general audience. Dredd is also a good one as an example with Blade. :]

But Kingsman, Kick-Ass and Deadpool fit a little more closely because of the comedy elements.

It's not a game changer. I think it'd like to be, but it's plot is too formulaic. Still awesome though.

i'm happy for Ryan Reynolds. i think this might ultimately be the biggest hit he's ever been in. most likely even BIGGER than Green Lantern.

i would have liked him to stay as Green Lantern. and the premise and visual designs of GL were promising, if not outright amazing.

but the execution was very disappointing and haphazard at best. clearly a product of too many cooks in the kitchen.

I don't think this is a "game-changer" in which the model of CBM's will emulate. It certainly will open up for future R rated CBM's but it doesn't alter the model. The reason why Deadpool works is because it's new and people embrace it for being different. However, once that formula is repeated and repeated -the nuance will fade.

It happens ALL the time whenever something new hits the public. We build it up like THIS is going to be the thing that revolutionizes film. It happened with X-Men, considered the first modern CBM to cater to unknown heroes. It happened with the Batman trilogy, despite mixed reviews by its 3rd outing, IS the model that the DCEU is built on. It happened with The Avengers, that no one took seriously, until it opened big. By the time of the sequel people criticized the franchise for not meeting their high expectations.

I don't think it's as much a 'game-changer' as it adds something new to the model for those who are tired of the "business as usual" state of CBM's. But Deadpool is still going to be more niche than mainstream. And it certainly isn't for ALL audiences who want more than what this sort of franchise can deliver.

hope this opens the door for more rated R comic book movies. AntMan is cool for the 12 year old audience but it would be nice to have something a little more adult. Wolverine needs to be done as a rated R movie. Dude has six razor sharp claws and we've never seen body parts go flying or any type of wetworks.

would love to see a rated R movie of this.

@CAPTAINPINKEYE - Yup. The Authority would be fantastic on the big screen.
