FANTASTIC FOUR Star Jessica Alba Rumored To Take On Surprising Role In DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE

There have been rumblings for a while now that Jessica Alba might reprise her Fantastic Four role in Deadpool & Wolverine, but a new rumour suggests there could be a twist regarding which Sue Storm it is.

Deadpool & Wolverine is expected to feature a lot of cameos, with many of them being characters who hail from 20th Century Fox's "X-Men Universe."

Set photos have already highlighted the likes of Sabretooth, Toad, and Pyro, but it seems the X-Men franchise won't be the only series of movies referenced in the upcoming threequel.

Unsurprisingly, all signs point to Marvel Studios also mining those early Fantastic Four movies, albeit with a small yet significant twist.

According to scooper Caleb Williams, the plan is for Jessica Alba to reprise her Fantastic Four and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer role as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman in Deadpool & Wolverine...as the wife of Earth-838's Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic!

This could be outdated information because there were early rumours about this movie dealing with the fallout from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. However, given what we saw go down on Earth-838, some links would definitely make sense as there are bound to be heroes on that world hoping to avenge the fallen members of the Illuminati.

Why would Alba be playing the wife of John Krasinski's Reed instead of Ioan Gruffudd's? It could be scheduling issues or something to do with the fact Gruffudd has been making headlines for a messy separation from his ex-wife; with that in mind, Marvel Studios may have decided to play things safe.

In 2022, Alba reflected on what it meant to play Sue Storm and the fact she was a Latina actress portraying a character who is depicted as white in the comic books.

"Even if you look at the Marvel movies - that’s the biggest driver of fantasy and what’s happening right now in entertainment, because it’s sort of the family thing - it’s still quite Caucasian," she said. "I would say I was one of the few back in the day. And it was before Marvel was sold to Disney...but it’s still quite...more of the same."

Shawn Levy directs Deadpool & Wolverine, which stars Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, Emma Corrin, Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, and Matthew Macfadyen. The movie is written by Ryan Reynolds & Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick & Zeb Wells & Shawn Levy.

The trades have confirmed that Jennifer Garner will reprise her role as Elektra, with Wesley Snipes, James Marsden, Famke Janssen, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Dafne Keen, Channing Tatum, Blake Lively and, as we mentioned above, even singer Taylor Swift among those rumoured to make an appearance.

Deadpool & Wolverine arrives in theaters on July 26.
