Ryan Reynolds Talks DEADPOOL Easter Eggs; Crossing Over With The X-MEN
Rumor has it that Fox's Deadpool is gearing up to set Comic-Con on fire this weekend. Now, whether that means literally or figuratively is for you to decide... but in the meantime, come check out what star Ryan Reynolds had to say about Deadpool teaming up with Wolverine & the X-Men!
To say 2016 is a big year for comic book movies is almost an understatement isn't it, especially with juggernaut sequels like X-Men: Apocalypse, Captain America: Civil War, and Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice leading the way.
For the most part, we probably already know what we're going to get with those three, but if there is one CBM that is almost guaranteed to surprise, it has to be the Ryan Reynolds-starrer Deadpool. Over the past year, Reynolds has done an excellent job engaging fans throughout the production process and has more or less taken method acting to another level as many of his engagements were more or less in the guise of Wade Wilson. With the upcoming film currently in post and gearing up to blow away fans at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday, he recently sat down with Screen Rant to discuss the possibility of crossing over with Fox's popular X-Men franchise or maybe in Hugh Jackman's Wolverine 3. Read his response below:
"That’s a damn good question. You tell me. It would be kind of hard, wouldn’t it? Because you have a character – let’s say you have a character who knows he’s in a comic book movie, that sort of breaks the fourth wall [and] has a tendency to kind of say people’s real names instead of their characters’ names. How do you introduce that into another universe that…does not do that? So…I don’t know. I’d be curious to say. I’m not saying that’s not going to happen. I don’t know if it’s going to happen. I would love to see that.
You have to be very careful about how you do that because you don’t want to do a disservice to any one of these characters that are beloved by everyone."
In a separate interview with MTV, Reynolds took a few minutes to chat about what kinds of Easter Eggs we should expect to see in the Tim Miller-directed film and based on his comments, it sure seems like there will be more than enough to please both casual fans and the hardest of hardcore fans as well. Check him out for yourself in the video below:
