Melissa McCarthy looks set to go under the sea for Disney's live-action
Little Mermaid remake.
THR reports that the Oscar nominated star of
Can You Ever Forgive Me? and
Ghostbusters is in early talks to play the villainous sea-witch Ursula in the Rob Marshall-helmed adaptation of the 1989 animated classic.
Spider-Man: Far From Home actress Zendaya recently reignited speculation that she was up for the lead role of Ariel when she showed up to a red carpet event sporting red hair, but that's still just a rumor for now.
We do know that Lin-Manuel Miranda, who worked with Marshall on
Mary Poppins Returns, will also work on original music for
Mermaid along with composer Alan Menken.
