Melissa McCarthy looks set to go under the sea for Disney's live-action Little Mermaid remake.

THR reports that the Oscar nominated star of Can You Ever Forgive Me? and Ghostbusters is in early talks to play the villainous sea-witch Ursula in the Rob Marshall-helmed adaptation of the 1989 animated classic.

Spider-Man: Far From Home actress Zendaya recently reignited speculation that she was up for the lead role of Ariel when she showed up to a red carpet event sporting red hair, but that's still just a rumor for now.

We do know that Lin-Manuel Miranda, who worked with Marshall on Mary Poppins Returns, will also work on original music for Mermaid along with composer Alan Menken.

Not a fan of her movies, but she seems right for the role. Really the disney remakes have been hit or miss, only one I really liked was Jungle Book, looking forward to Lion King.

@RorMachine - Excited to see that director's new film with Tom Hanks as Mr. Rogers out this fall.
Also, Richard E. Grant was so good in CYEFM that I hope Reeves gets him for Alfred.

Melissa McCarthy was so great in Can You Ever Forgive Me that I was hoping she'd do more dramas and less lame schlock like this and Super Intelligence.

I saw the picture in the thumbnail and thought Disney will make a live action remake of Hercules. Also, I'd love if Hollywood finally made a movie based on greek mythology about the gods of Olympus being badasses. I want to see Zeus with white hair and beard. So far the best portrayal is in the video game series God Of War. As for the live action movies. I liked Luke Evans' Zeus. The gods were the best part of the movie Immortals

I'm not mad at this at all, I'm actually a fan of her work (I KNOW, CRAZY RIGHT!!) I could see her doing very well at this. As far as Zendaya for Ariel I'd rather that not happen, there's plenty of other young actresses they can pick for that role.

I dont really get the appeal of Mellisa, Kristen Wiig, Amy Poehler or Tina Fey. None of those have been funny enough to warrant multiple chances.
