Over the weekend, photos from the set of Disney and Marc Webb's upcoming Snow White remake found their way online. While an obvious stand-in was incorrectly identified as lead Rachel Zegler, fans were still quick to praise the title character's costume due to its similarity to the classic 1937 movie.
However, this live-action take "Seven Dwarfs" has not been met with a particularly positive response. Only one of them was actually a little person, while the rest was a diverse group of male and female actors, and it took no time at all for Twitter to start tearing into this "politically correct" remake.

About Disney's Controversial Approach To "The Seven Dwarfs"
Disney chose to respond by declaring the set photos "fake," though The Daily Mail was quick to counter that argument by stating, "This article has been amended since initial publication to correctly identify the actress portraying Snow White as an extra who stood in for post-production photography."
"Disney [confirms] that stand-ins were used for both Rachel Zegler and Andrew Burnap in these images."
It's worth pointing out that this wouldn't be the first time Disney has claimed something that's very real is "fake" (you'll no doubt remember the Solo: A Star Wars Story promo art which was dismissed as fake, only to adorn every single piece of merchandise).
It's a weird situation, but one that many internet trolls capitalised on in a bid to take aim at Zegler for the fact she's a Latina actress playing Snow White.
The Shazam! Fury of the Gods star eventually responded by showing some photos of herself as a child dressed as a princess and said, "[I'm] extremely appreciative of the love I feel from those defending me online, but please don’t tag me in the nonsensical discourse about my casting. [I] really, truly do not want to see it."
Joining Zelger in Snow White is Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen, while Marc Webb is directing the movie from a screenplay by Greta Gerwig and Erin Cressida Wilson.
Snow White is set to be released in theaters on March 22, 2024.
