2017 has been an incredible year for Disney. The success of Star Wars: The Last Jedi in its second week has helped propel the studio to $6 billion at the global box office. Following the studio's $7.6 billion earnings in 2016, Disney has become the first studio in history to earn $6 billion in two separate years.
Both Warner Bros. and Universal reached $5 billion this year.
This was an enormous year for Disney, with The Last Jedi being the cherry on top of a year that already featured Beauty and the Beast, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, Cars 3, and Coco.
Of course, Marvel Studios provided much of the studio's earnings, with Thor: Ragnarok and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 both earning more than $800 million globally.
Disney isn't showing any signs of slowing down, following the studio's massive deal with 21st Century Fox earlier in the month.
