"Look, Simba, everything the light touches is our kingdom. A king's time as ruler rises and falls like the sun. One day, Simba, the sun will set on my time here, and will rise with you as the new king."

While it may be light on new footage, Disney did surprise Oscar viewers with a new extended TV spot for Jon Favreau's The Lion King, featuring the entire animal kingdom gathering to get their first look at baby Simba (JD McCrary) and the film's extremely appropriate tagline: "Long Live the King."

Favreau has also shared a stunning new theatrical poster for the live-action/animated hybrid, offering a proper look at Mufasa (James Earl Jones) teaching Simba (Donald Glover) about his future Kingdom.

Director Jon Favreau’s all-new “The Lion King” journeys to the African savanna where a future king is born. Simba idolizes his father, King Mufasa, and takes to heart his own royal destiny. But not everyone in the kingdom celebrates the new cub’s arrival. Scar, Mufasa’s brother—and former heir to the throne—has plans of his own. The battle for Pride Rock is ravaged with betrayal, tragedy and drama, ultimately resulting in Simba’s exile. With help from a curious pair of newfound friends, Simba will have to figure out how to grow up and take back what is rightfully his. The all-star cast includes Donald Glover as Simba, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter as Nala, James Earl Jones as Mufasa, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa and Billy Eichner as Timon. Utilizing pioneering filmmaking techniques to bring treasured characters to life in a whole new way, Disney’s “The Lion King” roars into theaters on July 19, 2019.

You hear the music before the TV Spot...then it hits home. It doesn’t matter what they show. Popsicle sticks on On a rock. But you play that music...and it just triggers the nostalgic juices.

The Mouse...bravo. Master Manipulator.

@IronGenesis - I dunno why I hated how similar the live-action Beauty and the Beast was too similar to the animated but here when I see a shot for shot recreation from the Circle of Life opening, I get ridiculously excited.
