DOCTOR STRANGE 2 First Reactions Tease The MCU's Most "Terrifying, Violent" Movie Yet

The social media embargo for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has now lifted, and you can find out what those who caught the movie last night made of Sam Raimi's sequel right here...

Following the movie's premiere last night, the social media embargo for Marvel Studios' Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has lifted, and the first reactions are now online.

Initial word on this latest MCU adventure is mostly positive (that's the norm, to be fair), with Sam Raimi's direction and Elizabeth Olsen's performance coming in for a lot of praise. As expected, it sounds like the sequel leans heavily into horror elements, and several critics mention how dark, terrifying and violent the action becomes in the second act.

Not everyone was won over, but we didn't come across any overwhelmingly negative responses. Some do seem to feel that characterization takes a backseat to spectacle, and things get a little convoluted. Also, it sounds like those expecting major surprises beyond what's already been confirmed might be disappointed!

Check out some Tweets below, and be sure to check back a little later on when the full review embargo lifts for more in-depth reactions.

Hmmm! Looks like possibly another hit for Disney! Makes sense why studios want their own shared universe. Those that don't folow suit will be left behind.

@Forthas - Agree and can't wait for the the "twists". I loved Iron Man 3 and this is being compared to it as the most subversive. I guess this film is going to make or break people. My concern about the rumors that Wanda steals the movie from Dr. Strange is concerning though.

Super hyped now.

Rodrigo Perez is the guy from Playlist that gives Marvel a hard time, so if he's lukewarm on it, then we're in for something special

“But but Derickson left because Marvel Studios didn’t want to make an horror movie! And and I don’t understand why Raimi agreed to do this, Feige doesn’t give creative freedom to the directors! It’s not going to be a Sam Raimi movie”
TheCoonII
TheCoonII - 5/3/2022, 4:38 AM
@Moriakum - Feige probably gave raimi too much freedom if the rumors of all the cameos being cut are true

Who are you all arguing with? The film gets good reviews but youre already on the defensive. You all call DC fans cultists and look at your behaviour. Get a grip. I cant wait fo see this, IMO Marvel have underperformed this year despite the billions it has made as I dont include sales figures in enjoyment factors. Heres hoping some Xmen news in the next couple of years. Film or series I just want Xmen

@TheHumanSpider2 - I'm a fanboy of everything, I mean Marvel and DC, but I always give my honest opinion. My faves characters are Thor, Batman and Mr. fantastic, but I still prefer DC over Marvel nowdays.
TheHumanSpider2
TheHumanSpider2 - 5/4/2022, 8:10 AM
@RegularPoochie - I always preffered Marvel over DC, but I dont like what Disney has been doing with the brand for the last few years.

RegularPoochie - 5/4/2022, 1:32 PM
@TheHumanSpider2 - i ment comics, but I also understand what you mean, also Marvel has killed DC so far in movies
TheHumanSpider2
TheHumanSpider2 - 5/4/2022, 1:49 PM
@RegularPoochie - In movies, this isnt even a competition, DC is just trying to keep up with Sony/Marvel.

@TheHumanSpider2 - and they can't thanks to Snyder, wich is a shame.

So far I have been able to avoid the major spoiler leaks.Probably will have to stay away from anything that mentions the movie (after this) until I can see it for myself this coming Saturday. Fingers crossed, hope is up, but really don't think I will be disappointed at all.
