DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS Rumored To Begin Shooting This November

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has been delayed multiple times by Marvel Studios, but things are looking up for the sequel with a new rumored start date of this November in the UK!

Marvel Studios is quickly returning to work with the worst of the coronavirus (COVID-19) seemingly passed, and Murphy's Multiverse reports that production on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is now slated to begin in the United Kingdom this November.

The sequel was originally been pencilled in for a Spring start date, but that never happened for obvious reasons. We've since heard that production could be delayed until next year, something that made sense after the film was pushed from May 7, 2021 to November 5, 2021, before Disney eventually settled on a March 25, 2022 slot for Sam Raimi's take on the Sorcerer Supreme.

With the untitled Spider-Man: Far From Home sequel pushed to December next year, the site points out that "it is now POSSIBLE that we could see Benedict Cumberbatch’s Sorcerer Supreme slide back into that November 2021 window."

The Doctor Strange sequel didn't find a new writer (Michael Waldron) until February, so this delay could be a blessing in disguise as it would have given him time to properly overhaul the film following original director Scott Derrickson's departure due to undisclosed "creative differences."

Recent casting calls have indicated that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will see America Chavez, Jericho Drumm, and Clea all added to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

I feel like we'd know a lot more by now if this was really shooting in 2 months

Five MCU movies in a year? That sounds like a lot, but that's what I also thought when they started doing three and now are going with four. To be honest, I wouldn't be all that surprised if it actually moves to May 2022 instead.

And I don't know how and with what crews they work at Marvel, but I think they might parts of crews on multiple projects. And at this rate, a lot of projects seem to be in production in the coming year and thus spreading the usual crew thin.

I wonder if Sam Raimi is gonna drop out of this like previous directors in the MCU, cause he certainly won't have the freedom to do this movie how he wants.

@John456 - Yadda-yadda, because he would get complete creative control working on a DC film, with absolutely no behind-the-scenes studio meddling, right? I think the Flash has lost more directors than what Marvel has had directors leave in their entirety due to creative differences.

@Whaley87 - I wasn't even mentioning DC BUT i am aware of all the years of issues that the Flash movie has had, but Sam would definitely have more freedom with DC with their films and shows that gives more creative freedom than what Disney/Marvel does with everything having to only fit within one mold. DC allowed Todd Phillips just by asking him to make his own R rated joker, James Wan do a spinoff to Aquaman that's a creature feature horror film & DC TV universe that is it's own not confined to the films.

@John456 - How many times did Marvel Studios lost a director in the middle of production? 3? Derrickson, Wright and Jenkins? So, 3 times in 23 movies?! Wow what a lousy track record.
Endgame, Infinity War, Civil War, Winter Soldier, Guardians, Black Panther, Avengers, Ragnarok and so on, all movies you can clearly see the directors had no freedom to do the movie they wanted...

@Moriakum - No none of the directors in the MCU really have any freedom which you tell since most of these movies look and play out exactly in the same way.

Historically, Marvel Studios starts filming one year before the scheduled theatrical release date (give or take a month).
