DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS Rumored To Include Iconic X-MEN Character...With A New Actor

We're kicking off the week with another big Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness rumour, and it sounds like an iconic X-Men character will be showing up, but with a new actor in the role.

By JoshWilding - Feb 21, 2022 10:02 AM EST

It's become apparent that part of the fun with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is going to be all the crazy cameos we get courtesy of Stephen Strange's trip through countless realities.

The latest trailer for the movie seemingly confirmed plans for Sir Patrick Stewart to reprise the role of Professor X, but he might not be the only member of the X-Men to make their MCU debut in the sequel. According to The Illuminerdi's Joseph Deckelmeier, we're going to see Wolverine in the movie...minus Hugh Jackman! Unfortunately, he doesn't go on to reveal any further details about who has been cast.

Unless the Doctor Strange sequel is going to rewrite reality and bring mutants into the MCU, it's a little odd that we're seemingly getting a random Wolverine Variant in the movie. It's also hard to imagine who could play Logan; Russell Crowe and Dougray Scott came close to landing the role prior to Hugh Jackman, but the latter isn't exactly a huge Hollywood star and Crowe has already landed a part in Thor: Love and Thunder.

Perhaps Marvel Studios will take this opportunity to introduce their Wolverine or put an A-Lister in the blue and yellow suit for fun!

No one said the Variants we meet will all be familiar to us, of course, so we'll wait to see what happens. Another unexpected character rumoured to appear in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is Mister Fantastic, so Marvel Studios might be looking to make good use of all those characters once owned by 20th Century Fox in Sam Raimi's ambitious Multiversal adventure.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will be conjured into theaters on May 6, later this year!

Really hoping that Jack O'Connell is the next Wolverine, when he is in the MCU.
Type of actor they generally actor they go for, talented but under the radar

@SimplyAz - Jack is a great actor that I wish was in more stuff. He did great in the already Godless and Unbroken projects

@bkmeijer -

I loved Godless, such a good show.
You're right, always seems to stand out and hasn't had an iconic role yet

@SimplyAz - I wish they would just give us the short and stocky little ball of muscle type of wolverine that the comics describe. He is also supposed to be ugly, but its understandable why they would not necessarily go that route...

@Shivermetimbers -

It's a tough trifecta to get, but there must be some unknown out there who fits the bill

@SimplyAz - I saw someone on Reddit mention Milo Gibson. I'm not familiar with the acting credits but he looks the part

Wow, he definitely does look the part. Interesting considering his Dad was often fancast in the 1990's as Wolverine

@SimplyAz - I’ve been team Egerton for the MCU Wolverine for awhile, but O’Connell would be great.

It'd be weird to introduce a new Wolverine and not have them be the Wolverine in the MCU going forward.

@comicfan100 - NWH made $2B.

The industry just learned all the wrong lessons from that movie.

@TheHumanSpider2 - and how's that relevant to his comment?

TheHumanSpider2 - 2/21/2022, 11:47 AM
@BigPhilbowski - Its easier and more profitable to just bring back an actor who player the character 20 years ago

I feel like Hughe Jackman could be the only variant of Wolverine that would make sense outside of whomever they are casting as the new permanent Wolverine in the MCU.

1. I don't recognize the face.
2. Hairline/widow's peak is off.
3. Claws are misaligned.
4. Direction/angle of the hand is wrong.

Shall I go on?

@slickrickdesigns - Neil Young? Isn't he a bit old to play Wolverine?
Jackraow21
Jackraow21 - 2/21/2022, 11:55 AM
@slickrickdesigns - Mel would actually be killer as an Old Man Logan variant. Damn, that would be awesome and I want it now, and then they could cast Milo Gibson as the MCU version of Logan and possibly even bring Mel’s OML back for Secret Wars. I actually want this to happen now.
