Rachel McAdams Confirms DOCTOR STRANGE Rumors
It appears there was some truth to reports that Marvel Studios had offered HBO's True Detective star Rachel McAdams a leading role in the Doctor Strange movie opposite Benedict Cumberbatch, as the Canadian actress has finally discussed the status of her potential casting.

Earlier this month, rumors had surfaced that Rachel McAdams had been offered the female lead part in Doctor Strange, which is currently gearing up to start production in London this November. Although her potential role in the Marvel adaptation was unspecified, the actress finally addressed the rumor during two separate interviews while promoting the acclaimed Southpaw boxing drama.
When Den of Geek asked McAdams about Doctor Strange, she replied, "I don’t have much to say about it right now. There’s not really anything to comment on. But, if there is, I’ll let you know." However, during her chat with the Los Angeles Times, the Mean Girls actress was more talkative, confirming she was indeed considering a role opposite Benedict Cumberbatch. "It's still super-early days, and I don't know where that's gonna go, if it's gonna go anywhere at all," she reiterated.
Rachel McAdams may not be a "comic book snob," as she told the Los Angeles Times, but she was reportedly Iron Man director Jon Favreau's and Marvel's first choice to play Virginia "Pepper" Potts; a role that evidently went to Gwyneth Paltrow. There's no word on why McAdams turned down that role, but considering how successful the Marvel Cinematic Universe has become since its 2008 debut, perhaps she'll be more open to accepting the studios' current offer. If she does, she would join Benedict Cumberbatch (Stephen Strange), Chiwetel Ejiofor (Baron Mordo), and Tilda Swinton (The Ancient One). Directed by Scott Derrickson, Doctor Strange is scheduled to open in theaters on November 4, 2016. Who do you think McAdams could play? Clea, Princess of the Dark Dimension?
