DOCTOR STRANGE 2: New Rumor Points To Hayley Atwell's Captain Carter Making Her Live-Action Debut

There have been rumblings that certain characters from What If...? might make the jump to live-action, and a new rumor claims that Hayley Atwell will appear as Captain Carter in the Doctor Strange sequel.

Now that the upcoming Disney+ What If...? animated series has been confirmed as a canon MCU show, there's a lot of speculation that we might see certain Multiverse versions (or, Variants) of established heroes and villains make the jump to live-action at some point, and a new rumor points to Captain Carter making her big-screen debut sooner than expected.

The What If...? take on Peggy Carter becomes Captain Carter (or Captain Britain, as she may end up being called) when she takes the super soldier serum instead of Steve Rogers, leading the Howling Commandoes into action against the forces of Hydra in his place. Hayley Atwell has already played Peggy in live-action, of course, but we're now hearing that the actress will return as this very different take on the hero for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Details are few and far between, but Daniel Richtman reckons "multiple" What If...? characters will appear in Sam Raimi's sequel, and Atwell's Captain Carter will be among them. This is not the first time we've heard this, either, as the Disinsider said they'd heard Carter might "show up" in the movie last month.

It's best to take this with a pinch of salt for now, but if there are plans to introduce live-action versions of some of these characters, then a "Multiverse of Madness" would be the perfect place to do it. If true, chances are it'll only be for a brief cameo, potentially setting up a larger role in a future MCU adventure.

Could Atwell ultimately stay on as the MCU's Captain Britain? That remains to be seen, but it's certainly an exciting prospect.
