ETERNALS Director Chloé Zhao Reveals Whether Any Of The Heroes Were Snapped Out Of Existence - SPOILERS

There's been a lot of speculation about whether the Eternals were among those dusted by Thanos when he snapped his fingers in Avengers: Infinity War, and director Chloé Zhao now sets the record straight.

While Avengers: Endgame brought the Infinity Saga to a close, fans have remained keen to learn more about the aftermatch of Thanos' attack on Earth. Spider-Man: Far From Home mostly glossed over the fallout from the Blip, as have the likes of WandaVision and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings

That's not to say it hasn't been addressed, of course, but it's clear Marvel Studios doesn't plan to waste too much time delving into the five years half of humanity was missing.

In Eternals, we don't learn whether any of those immortal heroes turned to dust when Thanos snapped his fingers, but director Chloé Zhao has cleared things up. "Well, I can't say this out loud, but if you think about...if you think about what the Celestials told them," she told Cinema Blend. "If you think about what the Celestials told them about themselves, technically they can't get blipped."

If you can't read between the lines there, Zhao is referring to the fact that the Eternals are synthetic beings created by Arishem. In other words, they're basically even more advanced than The Vision, and because they're not organic, the Mad Titan unleashing the Power of the Infinity Stones would have no impact on them.

It would have been interesting to see how the Eternals responded to half the planet vanishing, but we know there's nothing they could have done about it because the Celestials tasked them with only interfering when the Deviants attacked. Earth's Mightiest Heroes also killed Thanos just weeks after he snapped his fingers, so by that point, there was little need for them to interfere.

Eternals is currently playing in theaters. Check out our Easter Egg breakdown by clicking here.
