ETERNALS: First Clip Sees The Team Race Into Action Against The Monstrous Deviants

Eternals stars Kumail Nanjiani and Salma Hayek were guests on last night's episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, and they brought the first clip from the Marvel Studios movie with them.

An extended version of a scene we've glimpsed in the trailers, the team can be seen seemingly making their presence felt on Earth for the first time before racing into action against the Deviants. Ikaris (Richard Madden) makes short work of one of them, while Makkari's (Lauren Ridloff) super speed is showcased as the MCU's first deaf superhero demonstrates her impressive skill set.

Finally, we watch as Nanjiani's Kingo proves himself every bit as formidable as his teammates.

It's a great sneak peek, and those Deviants do look pretty terrific in motion. The world premiere for the movie is on Monday, so don't be surprised if we get more promos and clips then (if nothing else, expect reactions from critics in attendance to start surfacing shortly after the screening ends).

Check out this Eternals clip - which begins at the 8:00 mark - in the player below:

Eternals is the MCU's latest team-up, and features a group of heroes from beyond the stars who had protected the Earth since the dawn of man. When the Deviants, long thought lost to history, mysteriously return, the Eternals are forced to reunite in order to defend humanity once again.

Chloé Zhao directs Eternals, and Kevin Feige and Nate Moore are the producers, with Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso and Kevin de la Noy serving as executive producers. The story is by Ryan Firpo & Matthew K. Firpo, and the screenplay is by Chloé Zhao and Patrick Burleigh.

The Marvel Studios movie stars Gemma Chan as Sersi, Richard Madden as Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Lia McHugh as Sprite, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Barry Keoghan as Druig, Don Lee as Gilgamesh, Salma Hayek as Ajak, and Angelina Jolie as Thena.

Eternals is set to be released on November 5.

@CaptainStark - Honestly, the Celestials and the potential implications of them creating the X-Gene/mutants are all that's keeping my interest in this movie.

I absolutely love the Celestials. They are some of the coolest beings in all of Marvel.

@Captainhulk1 - Dull. Reminds me of the scene in X-men when Cyclops and storm show up to save Wolverine and Rougue from Sabretooth.

Not knowing anything about them, why are Deviants such a big threat? I’m under the impression that they’re simply generic monsters to be disposed of (which I’m sure will not actually be the case).
GhostDog

@tylerzero - in the movie they are parasitic aliens who go to worlds, and as they kill the apex predators there, take the characteristics of those predators and wipe out intelligent life.

In the comics, they were created as a delicacy to be consumed by Celestials at periodic intervals once they multiplied sufficiently. They were primates the Celestials experimented on genetically. They’re jealous over the Eternals perfection and them being blessed with powers. Some deviants have no power at all.

Off topic: I saw Bond last night. Great movie. Directing was amazing. Very emotional. It was a sad ending.

The amount of Superman ripoff Characters from Marvel over the decades is mind numbing.
