ETERNALS: Kit Harington Opens Up On THAT Big Cameo And Whether It's Leading Where We Think - SPOILERS

Eternals star Kit Harington has opened up on the movie's post-credits scene, revealing how much he knew about it and whether it's laying the groundwork for the team-up we're now all expecting to see...

In Eternals' post-credit scene, Dane Whitman ponders wielding the Ebony Blade only to be interrupted by a mysterious voice: Mahershala Ali's Blade! He asks if Dane is ready for what comes next, and seeing as the box has an ominous carving that reads "Death Is My Reward," Sersi's human boyfriend might be unrecognisable when we next see him.

Talking to Variety, Kit Harington revealed how much he knew about Blade's MCU debut when that stinger was being shot. "I knew the line that was being said, because it was said out loud and it was in the bit of script that I got," he confirms. "I only knew that was Mahershala’s voice just about three weeks ago. Chloé texted me saying that’s what they were doing. It really excited me, hearing that. He’s one of my favorite actors out there at the moment."

"Up until that point, all we’ve seen is a really good guy that we hopefully like," Harington says of Blade's apparent warning. "I like the idea that this thing is not good for him. With that sword, and what I’ve read about it, what I wanted to capture in that moment was this idea of addiction."

While that line coming from Blade may have been a surprise to the Game of Thrones alum, he confirms Marvel Studios hinted that a team-up with the Daywalker might be in his future. "I had some inkling that there was going to be a kind of crossover there, from early conversations," he teases. "I don’t know what the future is, and I have no idea. There’s nothing written. Nothing I’ve been told."

Director Chloé Zhao, however, was a little more willing to tease the ramifications of this stinger. "All I can say is it does have a very big repercussion on the future of the MCU..."

The Blade movie putting Black Knight front and centre now seems inevitable, and as these two do have a history in the comic books, this unexpected team-up could take us to a lot of very interesting places. Hopefully, Marvel Studios will no doubt reveal more about those plans in the near future.

Eternals is now playing in theaters.

The biggest Oh Shit moment ironically happened outside the theater when I read that it was Blade.

On one hand, I can't [frick]ing wait. On the other, I worry that a massive course correction will happen after the mediocre reception of Eternals, effecting the protrayal of Blade. Because, honestly I want Blade to stand out from the usual MCU style, just like Eternal did.

One more thing though. I know basically nothing about Black Knight, but did anyone else think about the All-Black Necrosword when the Ebony blade reacted to Dane? Could there be a connection there?

@Fares - There's not going to be course correction because fans are loving the movie. I think the worse reception it has had from a fan is that it's "ok", so Marvel won't care about the critics reviews.

The most important factor to consider a course correction is the Box Office, and I believe so far, the movie is doing pretty good. It has to definitely hit Disney's internal targets.

@colonel179 - "Loving" is a strong word from what I've seen, but the fan reception has been significantly better than that of the critics. Still, I'm sure they'll want to make a movie that's universally loved in the future rather than have it be received with a mixed critical response. Because it might have even the slightest influence over the box office performance. I'm sure Venom would've easily cracked the billion dollars mark of it was universally loved.
But as you said, the numbers are what matters in the end.

@Gmoney84 - they teamed up for a bit with Captain Britain to punch Dracula. Also, Union Jack and Doom were there. Great stuff

@bkmeijer - And I barely hear anyone mention the fact that Mikkari had Excalibur onboard the ship and that King Arthur had a thing for Thena

Man, F*ck!

This is why i hate dubbings.

OF COURSE i had no chance to figure out who said that and *missed* Blade.

Still...this gets me excited!

@Doomsday8888 - They don't offer subbed screenings where you're from?
Doomsday8888

@Fares
RARELY and not for all movies.

Last time it happened with a cinecomic must've been for Joker.
Guess cause it won a Golden Leone here in Italy, heh.

@Doomsday8888 - That's unfortunate. If there's a big demand from audiences for English voice screenings, perhaps the people in charge should do something about it.
Where I'm from, we get an even number of french dub and french sub screenings, but I feel that the demand for dub is dying out, especially among younger audiences.
Still, even with the sub, I had to put some effort into reading Makkari's dialogue since I suck at french. I wish all movies would just have integrated English subs for things like that.

Can't wait to see Blade, the first movie was excellent.

If this lead to Captain Britain and MI-13, I'm gonna be very happy. A Disney+ show with Captain Britain and Black Knight could be a ton of fun.

My theory is that Vlad betrayed the Order of the Dragon and he stole the Ebony Blade. After centuries of persecuting the traitor, the Order recovered the sword in late 19th century Victorian London

The descendants of a knight of the Order (The Black Knight) promised to guard the Ebony Blade. Now, Nathan Garrett is the guardian of the sword.

Also, Graham Mctavish is my Nathan Garrett (Dane's Uncle)

@Repian - I like the guardian of the sword angle. Could make it so that the guardians are told to never actually wield the sword because of corruption etcetera, but ofcourse Nathan Garrett still did it.

Also, Grahan McTavish is a great casting

Or maybe Midnight Sons?
Repian
Repian - 11/6/2021, 10:54 AM
@OptimusPrime114 - I could see Dracula as the great villain on Midnight Sons.

On Blade, Dracula is a frail old man connected to a bloodstream.

When he retrieves the Ebony Blade, Dracula regains his vigor and all power. Also, he uses the sword against the Midnight Sons.

Ain't never read a comic centered around Black Knight and I'm not too well versed in Blade lore either, but if they're on any sort of collision course that puts that Blade movie on a scale I was NOT anticipating
comicfan100
comicfan100 - 11/6/2021, 10:35 AM
@OmegaDaGrodd - It may end up being a team up film with him and Black Knight with Dracula as the big bad. I think Dracula has history with the Ebony Blade in the comics.
OmegaDaGrodd
OmegaDaGrodd - 11/6/2021, 10:43 AM
@comicfan100 - Ah, that makes sense. Seems wild to jump to Dracula right away but that would be a good way of making this take on Blade unique from Snipes' version

Just watched it. In the context of this article, I’ll address that first:

Dude! Blade? That’s awesome! Chills! That’s a great post credit scene.

OTHER SPOILERS

Now the mid credit:

Star Fox? What a disappointment.

Movie review:

I fell asleep. Why? Cuz I drove all last night and this morning. So I was like “this movie sucks” and still thought so… but I was in and out and woke back up around the forest attack. And changed my mind. Those Deviants were not generic. They were nuanced and threatening. And the convoluted plot came together, and bruh straight up, I love the dead actress, ever since TWD, sooo yeah. Each character actually grew on me but her I liked from the gate. Poor Salma, I never grew to like her character and then she was gone. Sorry Salma, I love the deaf girl now.

@ThorArms - I drove all day and get to my hotel after midnight and took a shower and fell asleep about 1 o’clock and then I woke up at six something and drove three more hours to my house. Needless to say that chair and that darkness caused that coma

Along with my absolutely loving this movie, these 2 credit scenes are right up there for me as the best.

I was just not expecting that reveal AT ALL. Eros, I got spoiled a few months ago but seeing him on screen, his entrance and dialogue....it was awesome!

Also, as a bit of an Arthurian fan, that little line to Thena about King Arthur having a crush on her made me smile haha.
