After X-men wasnt picked up Marvel asked if James would do Spider-man so he said yes,

I chose him over Tom because he is much more nerd and outcast than Tom is.

Like Harry, Tom is the cool, friendly guy who is best friends with Peter. I thought Tom still would work well in a role for Spider man so I guessed Harry would be the best fit for him.
Gwen Stacy Heather Locklear
She is cute, blonde, and a good actress. I thought she was a good fit for Gwen because of those reasons ^^^up^^^there.
Uncle Ben& Aunt May James Stewart & Kathrine
I don't think I need a reason. Though would both be around 70 at the time They look old in the comics.
J.J Jamenson Christopher Lloyd
Hillarous actor and can be over the top. I think he could be 1980s version of j.k Simmons Jonah.

Mysterio Gary Sinise
He would be the right age for him and could bring the character to light.
Norman Osborn Robert De Niro
I would not have be Goblin just Norman pulling the strings from behind.
