BATMAN: A DEATH IN THE FAMILY

Scene 1
INT. WAYNE MANOR –NOON-
After being adopted by BRUCE WAYNE, JASON TODD arrives at Wayne Manor. ALFRED comes by to greet his new master.
ALFRED
Hello there, young MASTER TODD; I am ALFRED, the butler.
Action
JASON looks at BRUCE with a disgusted look on his face.
JASON
You have your own slave? What the hell is wrong with you man?
BRUCE
Now JASON, ALFRED isn’t a slave, he’s a butler, almost like a father to me.
JASON
Yeah, yeah; you are served by someone you consider a father, and you think your fit to be mine?
Action
JASON storms off, angry; not at BRUCE, but at the situation.
ALFRED
Sir, are you sure this was a wise idea? He seems rather troubled.
BRUCE
He’s just grieving ALFRED, I did it when my parents died.
ALFRED
Yes sir, but still. Are you sure this boy isn’t too much work?
BRUCE
He’s a challenge ALFRED. But if I succeed, then I get a troubled youth off the streets, and out of jail.
Scene 2
INT. JASON’S ROOM –AFTERNOON-
JASON is in his room, staring out the window, while smoking, with tears in his eyes. His anger eventually gets so bad, that he turns around and punches the wall so hard that he makes a hole in the brick. This causes his knuckles to bleed; he then grabs a towel to cover the blood. BRUCE comes in.
Action
BRUCE knocks on the already opened door.
BRUCE
May I come in?
JASON
It’s your house.
Action
BRUCE goes and sits next to JASON on his bed.
BRUCE
Look, I don’t want you to think that I adopted you out of pity, because I didn’t.
JASON
Then why did you?
Action
BRUCE looks at the hole JASON made in the wall.
BRUCE
JASON, I know how you feel, to have your parents killed. To feel all that anger form inside you, and burst out like that.
JASON
Why did you adopt me?
BRUCE
Because I don’t want you to take out your anger the way I wanted to.
JASON
And how did you want to do it?
BRUCE
By killing the man responsible for their deaths. Trust me, I saw him die, and it didn’t make me feel belter.
JASON
Ok.
Action
BRUCE leaves the room, but before he does, JASON asks one more question.
JASON
If someone else didn’t do it, would you have killed the man?
BRUCE
I ask myself that question.
Scene 3
INT. FUNERAL HOME –SUN DOWN-
KILLER CROC is having a small, private funeral for WILLIS TODD.
KILLER CROC
Today we gather to mourn WILLIS TODD, a man I truly consider my closest adviser. His death was uncalled for, and unfair. And today I swear a vendetta, against the man who killed him. This unknown person will pay and endure before he dies.
Scene 4
INT. KILLER CROC’S LIMO –NIGHT-
KILLER CROC goes into his limo to find the JOKER is waiting for him.
JOKER
You know, you should really get those pimples checked out.
Action
KILLER CROC takes out a gun, but JOKER already has one out.
KILLER CROC
You the [frick] are you, clown.
JOKER
A friend, who is in your debt.
Action
JOKER takes out a bank bag, filled with cash, and tosses it to KILLER CROC.
KILLER CROC
The COMIEDIAN?
Action
KILLER CROC grabs the bag and looks inside.
JOKER
That is not my name, alligator tears. It’s JOKER.
Action
An ink pack inside the bag blows up, rendering the money useless. Ink gets splashed on KILLER CROC, and JOKER laughs.
JOKER
Hey CROC, you want a tissue?
Action
JOKER starts pulling out a bunch of silk scarves out of his jacket pocket. KILLER CROC is getting angrier and angrier.
JOKER
Why so glum, chum? You look like you just came from a funeral! For my first victim perhaps?
KILLER CROC
You killed WILLIS?
JOKER
Yes.
KILLER CROC
I know who you are! I am going to torture you! Then I will kill you!
JOKER
Oh please, what fun would that be for me?
Action
JOKER puts the gun in front of KILLER CROC’s face.
KILLER CROC
You do it, and you will experience more pain than ever.
Action
JOKER laughs, and then pulls the trigger. But nothing comes out of the gun except for a flag that says BANG! JOKER then laughs some more, and presses the trigger again, causing the funeral home to blow up, killing many of KILLER CROC’S henchmen. JOKER then leaves the scene.
Scene 5
INT. WAYNE MANOR –NIGHT-
BRUCE is summoning JASON.
ALFRED
JASON! Please come down for a second!
Action
JASON appears down stairs to see BRUCE waiting for him.
JASON
What do you want?
BRUCE
To show you something.
Action
BRUCE takes JASON to his personal office, where BRUCE pops open the head of a stone bust. Inside the bust is a button, which BRUCE pushes. After pushing it the walls open up, showing a staircase which BRUCE then takes JASON down. The bat cave is revealed to JASON.
JASON
No [frick]ing way!
Action
JASON starts looking around, then sees the ROBIN costumes, and starts inspecting them.
BRUCE
You see the last one?
Action
JASON immediately starts looking at the last costume, which was blood red, with a dark green and yellow are on the right breast. The cape was also dark green, and the mask was black. The costume also included a utility belt.
BRUCE
That was going to be the former ROBIN’s.
JASON
Former?
Scene 6
EXT. ROOFTOPS –NIGHT-
BATMAN is taking the new ROBIN out for training. He is inside the new ROBIN costume, which fits him perfectly. He looks almost identical to DICK GRAYSON, except for having blonde hair. They stop on a rooftop where they see three boys JASON’S age mugging an attractive woman.
BATMAN
Do you think you can handle this?
ROBIN
Handle it?
BATMAN
Yeah, it’s just some teenage punks trying to act tough. You should handle them.
Action
JASON gets happy about the opportunity to step up and show what he’s got. So he jumps off the building and starts walking into the alley.
ROBIN
Hey! Stop messing with her!
Action
The gang looks up at ROBIN and starts laughing at him.
GANG LEADER
What you want Blondie!
ROBIN
That isn’t my name!
GANG LEADER
Yeah, so what the [frick] is it then?
ROBIN
I’m ROBIN!
Action
The gang laughs even harder.
ROBIN
So what if I have blonde hair? I can still beat all your asses!
Action
The gang stands up, ready to fight; the woman runs away. ROBIN then throws a R shaped shuriken at the gang leader, and then starts beating up the other two. BATMAN is watching from above, impressed with what he sees. JASON then grabs his shuriken, and picks up the gang leader.
ROBIN
So you don’t think I’m ROBIN because you see blonde hair? You just lost that sense!
Action
BATMAN jumps down, seeing that ROBIN is about to kill the young boy and pulls him off.
BATMAN
Rule #1: No killing!
ROBIN
He was disrespecting me!
BATMAN
It doesn’t matter, you kill your no better than them!
Scene 7
INT. CONFERENCE ROOM –NIGHT-
KILLER CROC is having a meeting with the mob leaders of GOTHAM.
KILLER CROC
Gentlemen, we have a new criminal out there, who is a danger to us all. In two days, he has killed over twenty of my men. His name: the JOKER!
ACTION
KILLER CROC holds up a security camera photo of the JOKER, and the other mob bosses start talking.
KILLER CROC
Tonight, I offer everyone a deal: $1 million to whoever kills the clown. $750 million for information on him!
CARL GRISSOM
Now, WAYLON, why not use that money as a bounty for an even bigger threat, like the BATMAN?
KILLER CROC
BATMAN hasn’t bothered us yet, and won’t now. The clown is more important.
TONY ZUCCO
He’s right GRISSOM, I mean we underestimated the RIDDLER, and now look. We lost one of our biggest mobsters.
CARL GRISSOM
But let us not forget, we gained our biggest asset from FALCONE dying.
KILLER CROC
It doesn’t matter, $1 million for the JOKER.
Scene 8
INT. WAYNE MANOR –DAYTIME-
JASON TODD is in his bathroom recovering from the night before. He looks at the mirror with disgust because of his blonde hair. He then grabs some black hair dye, and goes into the shower.
Scene 9
INT. CONFERECE ROOM –DAY-
JOKER is having meeting with his mob.
JOKER
Ok people, let’s review the plan. Tonight we will invade the Gotham Bank at the same time as CROC’s crew
HAPPY
But JOKER, I am concern with the likely hood of this plan, I mean; what’s the motive?
JOKER
Motive? The only motive I have HAPPY is to have some fun. I mean, what is life without a little fun.
Action
JOKER looks at his henchman DASHFULL.
JOKER
What’s wrong with you DASH? You look glum.
DASHFULL
I’m just not sure about this boss, I mean; honestly CROC’s crew is tough.
JOKER
Would it make you feel better sit this one out?
Action
DASHFULL nods, then JOKER stands up and holds out his arms for a hug. DASHFULL goes in to hug him, but JOKER then tugs on his corsage, and the flower sprays acid at DASHFUL, killing him. JOKER laughs at his painful death.
JOKER
Somebody get me a new one of him!
Scene 10
INT. WAYNE MANOR –AFTERNOON-
JASON TODD is walking out of the bathroom, with his new black hair. BRUCE notices this change.
BRUCE
Why the change?
JASON
I thought it would be more familiar for you.
BRUCE
Your right, hey, I just got an anonymous tip from the street. A big mob boss named WAYLON JONES is planning an assault tonight on Gotham Bank. Are you up for it?
JASON
It would be my genuine pleasure.
Scene 10
INT. GOTHAM BANK –NIGHT-
KILLER CROC and his crew are breaking into Gotham National Bank, a 12 story bank, where many of Gotham’s wealthiest have all their money. Total about $50 million is inside that bank, which is held in two separate safes on the first and eleventh stories. The other levels were business offices. CROC and five other guys are working on the bottom safe, while three other men work on the upper safe.
KILLER CROC
Ok men; in this safe is about $25 million. When you open this safe, do not faint.
Action
JOKER and his crew enter the bank.
JOKER
Or die while you’re at it.
KILLER CROC
You!
Action
KILLER CROC holds up his machete, while JOKER holds up a magnum pistol, and his henchmen hold up their AR-15’s.
JOKER
You’re a little out of date, aren’t you Gator?
Action
BATMAN and ROBIN swoop in through the windows, in between CROC and JOKER’S crew’s
JOKER
Hmm, that’s odd; rats with wings!
Action
JOKER’s gang and CROC’s gang starts shooting at BATMAN and ROBIN, but their armor is bullet proof and don’t penetrate. BATMAN and ROBIN then start attacking the men. CROC and BATMAN start fighting, with CROC attacking with his machete. ROBIN is still fighting the henchmen, while being careful not to kill anyone. ROBIN runs upstairs to get the rest of the henchmen, while CROC is more than a match for BATMAN. CROC hits BATMAN at a point in his armor where the blade partially penetrates the body. BATMAN then kicks CROC through the window, not feeling the pain, and his adrenaline is pumping. BATMAN is about to go to capitalize on the attack, but a body falls from above, distracting BATMAN, and CROC escapes.
Scene 11
INT. GOTHAM NATIONAL BANK 11TH FLOOR –NIGHT-
The body that fell from above was one of CROC’S henchmen. BATMAN goes upstairs to see what happened.
BATMAN
What the hell happened here?
ROBIN
I guess i spooked him. He slipped.
