Hello CBM. I haven't been around for a while and I apologize for that. Truth is...I've been lazy. I haven't really thought of any new posts for you guys until now. So without any further stalling, here is my fan cast for the Batman universe...
BRYAN CRANSTON/JAMES GORDON
This one's pretty obvious. Cranston is an incredible actor that has an insane amount of range when it comes to work. It also helps that he voiced Gordon in Batman: Year One.
PETER O'TOOLE/ALFRED PENNYWORTH
Peter O'Toole is one of the greatest actors of all time. Period. He deserves to have one more great role before he dies. I think he would be great as Bruce's father figure.
JAMIE BELL/DICK GRAYSON
Jamie Bell is quickly becoming a great actor. With films such as Billy Elliot, King Kong, and The Adventures of Tintin under his belt, he's becoming big news. I think he would be a great addition to the Batman universe.
JOSEPH GORDON-LEVIT/JASON TODD
Joseph Gordon-Levitt is one of my new favorite actors. His performance in 50/50 solidfied him as a new talent to me. He would bring Jason Todd to life perfectly.
EMMA STONE/BARBARA GORDON
I love Emma Stone. I wanna see more of her in a bit more serious roles so I think this would fit her great.
AMANDA SEYFRIED/HARLEY QUINN
Amanda Seyfried has shown herself to be a very good actress. Plus she's pretty hot, and thats what you need when your'e casting Harley Quinn.
MICHAEL C. HALL/THE RIDDLER
Well...he's a great actor and has acted crazy before and he needs to be in more movies. That's it really.
CHRISTOPH WALTZ/HUGO STRANGE
Christoph Waltz is one of the best new actors out there. Hugo Strange is a grossly underused villain. The two together make gold.
ANDY SERKIS/JOKER
Andy Serkis has proved to me with Lord of the Rings, King Kong, and Rise of the Planet of the Apes that he is a tremendous actor. He is mostly known for doing motion capture work but I think he should be in live action a lot more. And this would be the perfect part for his style of acting.
GINA CARANO/CATWOMAN
Gina Carano is an MMA fighter, so that means she would be able to do almost all her own stunts. She also one of the hottest women I've ever seen. And she is the lead in Haywire, an action movie directed by Steven Soderbergh, so she must have some decent acting chops in order to impress him.
BRADLEY COOPER/TWO FACE
A friend suggested this to me and it got me thinking "That could actually work". He's shown us with Limitless that he can do more than comedy and he's gonna show us with Paradise Lost that he can be evil too. I'd like to see how he would handle poor Harvey Dent.
SHARLTO COPLEY/SCARECROW
This one just feels right to me. I'd like to see what else this guy can do. He was great in District 9 and The A-Team (even though that movie wasn't very good). I'd really like to see more of this guy.
BEN KINGSLEY/MR. FREEZE
What can I say? He's a brilliant actor and he would fit with Freeze's character. Just my opinion.
DANIEL DAY-LEWIS/RA'S AL GHUL
He's the best actor of this decade. He's one of Batman's greatest villains. It works out pretty good, don't you think?
EMILY BLUNT/TALIA AL GHUL
Emily Blunt is a beautiful and talented actress. She's the first person that comes to mind when I think of Talia.
PAUL GIAMATTI/THE PENGUIN
Paul Giamatti is a terrific actor and I'd love to see where he could take the character.
OLIVIA WILDE/POISON IVY
So what if she's not a redhead? She's one of the hottest and most talented actresses out there now, making her perfect for Poison Ivy.
And now for The Dark Knight himself...
RYAN GOSLING/BATMAN
If you've seen Drive, you know that he has great presence and can do a lot without even saying anything. If you've seen Blue Valentine, you know that he can act very emotional and deliver hard scenes. If you've seen Crazy, Stupid, Love then you know that he can pull off the charming and handsome type. This guy is the perfect Bruce Wayne/Batman in my eyes.
And now who could direct this massive cast you ask?
NICHOLAS WINDING REFN/DIRECTOR
Nicholas Winding Refn not only directed Drive (which you can see above) but also Bronson, the film that basically brought Tom Hardy to where he is now. He is known for mostly artistic types of movies but showed us in Drive that he can handle action pretty well. That is what a Batman movie should be like: gritty and artistic with plenty of well shot action to boot
PAUL DINI AND SEFTON HILL/WRITERS
They collabrated on this. 'Nuff said.
Well, that's my cast for most of the Batman universe. Post in the comments any characters I may have missed and I will try and get to them next time.
Tell me what you think in the comments below. ;)
