WAYNE MANOR: MAIN HALL
Bruce and Alfred are showing Dick the estate. They come to a large portrait of a young Bruce with his parents.
Dick: "They were your parents."
Bruce: "They were. Dick, I know what it's like to lose your parents at once. And I did something stupid because of it. I wish I could say that the pain goes away. Just don't do anything stupid."
Dick: "I won't."
Bruce: "And Dick. I won't be home a lot of nights, just telling you."
Dick: "Where are you gonna go?"
Alfred: "Let's just say that Master Bruce goes to see some of the most influential people in all of Gotham."
Bruce: "Come on, there's still a lot to see."
GOTHAM STREETS
Batman has a thug pinned against a wall. Rain is pouring down his face.
Batman: "DEADSHOT! WHERE IS HE!?!"
Thug: "Don't hurt me! I- I worked for Black Mask! Your cat friend knocked me out! NO! M-mask worked with Deadshot! He-he's at the condemned part of the docks! DON'T HURT ME!"
Batman: "It's been a pleasure."
He threw the thug to the side, and called for the Batmobile. It pulled up, and Batman got in. He drove to the docks.
He parked at the condemned dock area. He walked onto the old, dead wood that made up the dock. A thug ran at him. Batman grabbed his shirt and threw the thug onto the old wood. it instantly broke, and the thug fell into the water. Another thug came, and threw a punch. Batman grabbed the thug's arm, kicked his legs, and then his head. He fell into the water. Batman went into an old dock house. Deadshot was waiting. His wrist gun was aiming at the ceiling. To be more exact, it was aiming for the fuse connected to a crate of dynamite attached to the ceiling.
Deadshot: "Ah ah ah Dark Knight. Don't get any closer, and don't even think about using one of your gadgets. Otherwise, we both go down."
Batman: "I just want to know who your employer was. You already have the money."
Deadshot: "I don't. Not yet. I was just on my way to collect it when you showed up."
Batman: "Once you have it the contract is off. The man has no further alliance with you?"
Deadshot: "You want me to lead you to him? But after I have the money? Wait, won't you just take me down there too?"
Batman: "I'll wait for you to leave the building."
Deadshot: "And if you don't?"
Batman: "I'll still be here when you get out of jail. You can kill me anytime after that. I'll never see the bullet coming."
Deadshot: "Fine. I never liked that bastard Zucco anyways. Oh no."
Batman got out a batarang and threw it at Deadshot. As the weapon hit him, he shot a bullet at the fuse. The explosives went off, and the wood came crashing down. Batman woke up to see Catwoman dragging him out of the remains of the dock house.
Batman: "Ugh. I know who to look for."
Catwoman: "Well, you're welcome. And who is it?"
Batman: "Someone named Zucco. I'll look him up."
Catwoman: "Okay. Maybe I'll go after him. You have a meeting with that company tomorrow and all."
Batman: "Yeah. Garfield Lynns. He was disfigured. Badly burnt. I heard he needs a special suit to purify air and keep heat out. Anything above room temperature could kill him, rip the charred flesh from his bones. Wait. Medical supplies and power tools? What if Lynns was committing those crimes? Trying to help himself? And if he failed he could just upgrade the suit?"
Catwoman: "You could be wrong. You go to the meeting, try to converse with him. Look for the slightest sign that he's doing it. I'll keep watch and see what happens."
Batman: "Okay. Where's Deadshot?"
Catwoman: "He's in there somewhere. But you do realize if you save him, he'll kill you. Deadshot is more dangerous than Joker, if you think about it."
Batman: "Are you convincing me to let someone die?"
Catwoman: "He would be dying on his own terms. Besides, you don't kill people. You just make them comatose after they commit a crime."
Batman: "I'm saving him. You can go."
Catwoman: "I'll help. Your just digging your own grave."
They found Deadshot and pulled him out from under the wood. Batman put him in the Batmobile, and got in with Catwoman. They drove to the GCPD building, and dropped off Deadshot. They went to the Batcave.
THE BATCAVE
Batman: "So you're looking for the thief. Or his goons. Once you have him, we can stop worrying and go after... Tony Zucco."
Catwoman: "He bullied me in the second grade."
Batman: "What did you do?"
Catwoman: "Gave him a black eye. And shoved him into a mud pile."
Batman: "Nice. Selina, do you think I should tell Dick? He's trustworthy."
Catwoman: "Honestly? I think you should. Just not right now. We need to be completely sure he won't say anything."
Alfred: "No! Absolutely not! You dragged me into this! You dragged Miss Kyle into this! But you will NOT bring an innocent boy into this!"
Batman: "I already have. That boy was me. Dick wants revenge. So did I. And he won't stop wanting it until Zucco is dead. Remember me when my parents died? I wanted blood. I never got it. I'll bring him into this. I'll tell him I'm Batman, and see how he wants to help. If at all. He's family now Alfred. He deserves to know that right beneath his feet, I'm here, you're here, and Selina's here. I'm telling him, and you won't stop me."
The Next Day
LYNN'S PYROTECHNICS
Bruce and Hugo Strange are walking through the building, to where Lynns is waiting.
Strange: "Honestly Mr. Wayne, this company is not important."
Bruce: "Yes, but it brings more money, to us and Lynns. Besides, he needs all the help he can get."
Strange: "I suppose I do not share your sense of...morality. Ah, I believe this is the room."
The two men walked in, and Lynns was waiting, in his suit. He greeted them. Lynns sucked in a large amount of air every few words.
Lynns: "Please, take a seat. So, Mr. Wayne, Mr. Strange, I hear you want to buy my company."
Bruce: "I would. It would bring more money to you, and to Wayne Industries as a whole. Your company would be the same, only larger, and with more resources. Tools, scientists...the list goes on and on."
Lynns: "And why, exactly, would I need scientists?"
Bruce: "To research more into the pyrotechnics field. New weapons, suits like yours for firefighters; recovery supplies."
Lynns: "Are you trying to tempt me Wayne? To mock me?"
Strange: "No. We want to help you, and you want to help yourself. If you were able to create that suit by yourself...than imagine what you could do with a team of scientists who are more than capable of changing the world by themselves."
Lynns: "Your offer is good Wayne, I'll give you that. And your also saying that if I sell the company, you'll help me? It's done than. Congratulations Mr. Wayne, you set a record. So, three days?"
Bruce: "Three days to assemble my top scientists and get them over here? Give me two."
Bruce and Hugo left the room.
WAYNE MANOR
Bruce is contacting Catwoman.
Bruce: "Selina, anything?"
Catwoman: "No robberies yet. I'll call it a night. Is it Lynns?"
Bruce: "I don't think so. I'm going to tell Dick. You should get here quick if you want to see the look on his face when he sees the Batcave."
Catwoman: "No, wouldn't want to miss that."
He went into the manor. Bruce looked in Dick's room. He didn't find him. He searched the level. Didn't find him. He searched the estate. Didn't find him. Bruce gave up and went into the Batcave. Dick was there. He had a staff, and was beating up automated dummies, trying to punch him. He was wearing a red and green leotard, in the fashion of the Flying Grayson's outfit. He put his staff against a dummies arm and kicked it's head, knocking it off. he did the same for the rest, exempt the last. it moved it's arm, Dick jumped over it, landed on the floor, and broke his staff against the dummies head.
Dick: "Pretty cool, huh?"
Bruce: "What the hell are you wearing? Alfred!"
Alfred: "Yes, Master Bruce?"
Bruce: "What the hell? I said he chooses what he wants! Not you dress him up like a retard and give him a stick!"
Alfred: "Ah, so I suppose you were going to let him do that on his own terms. I see. I'm dreadfully sorry Master Bruce, I will never make a mistake like that again."
Bruce: "I hate it when your sarcastic. Okay, Dick. You want to be my partner? Fine. You want to wear those colors?"
Dick: "You think that I don't want to honor my parents by wearing their signature colors? Okay."
Bruce: "Damn, not you too. Fine, Lucius can make it an armor. You're good with a staff. He can make a detectible one, so it'll fit on your belt. You can have versions of my weapons too."
Dick: "Well thanks. I guess I'm going to have to go to bed now and when I wake up you'll act like none of this ever happened. Well, bye. See you tomorrow. Bats."
Bruce: "Call me that one more time and I swear to god I'll paralyze you for two months."
Dick: "Well, thanks for all the love and support on my becoming a super hero. Ta-ta."
He went into an elevator and left the Batcave. The Batmobile rolled in. Catwoman got out, and looked at Bruce and Alfred.
Catwoman: "Let me guess, Alfred-"
Bruce: "Not. A good time."
Two Days Later
LYNNS PYROTECHNICS: LABORATORY
Bruce Wayne is showing Lynns his new team of scientists.
Bruce: "So these are the most brilliant minds in my company. Dr. Kirk Langstorm, Dr. Jervis Tetch, Dr. Stacy Baker, and Dr. Victor Fries."
Fries: "Now, Mr. Lynns, I had an idea. Before anything begins. Any projects, any...robotic outer casings. I want to tell you something. Because of the burns, your skin is decaying. Being destroyed. And because of that, we don't know how much time we would have to help you. I have created a chemical that instantly freezes whatever is completely encased in it. You would just have to go to sleep, we'll put you in the chemical, and your body would be preserved until we have found the solution to your dilemma. I've already tested the chemical on certain animals, each not aging more than a day in the three months they were kept in the ice. It would be the solution to finding the solution."
Lynns: "I like where your going with this. The animals didn't die?"
Fries: "Not the slightest bit of damage."
Lynns: "Then start working on the chemical compound. Oh, and Mr. Wayne. Thank you."
Bruce: "You're welcome."
The Next Day
Fries has finished duplicating the compound. He's ready for Lynns to be lowered in. He calls him on the intercom. Lynns runs into the room, suitless.
Lynns: "Are we ready?"
Langstorm: "We are. Just give us a minute to test. Victor got a little exited."
Fries: "It's my one weakness. Being too sure of myself."
Langstorm: "It's okay to use. Just lay on the table and fall asleep Mr. Lynns. We'll handle it from there."
Lynns: "Okay. And when I wake up, a solution will be ready?"
Tetch: "It will be. Or if we are extremely successful, they will be ready!"
Lynns fell asleep. The scientists lowered him into the chemical. The instant Lynns touched the chemical, he woke up screaming. His left hand and both feet and legs were encased in the liquid. He got up and jumped onto the ground. The body parts were encased in ice. Lynns hit the ice, and it shattered, destroying his legs and hand. He screamed in pain, sprawled out on the ground. He started talking, each word a gasp.
Lynns: " Fries. You're. Idea. Going. Kill. You."
And with that, he grabbed Victor's leg and threw him into the chemical. He sank to the bottom, and came up, his skin blue. He sank down into the liquid again, this time coming up, the chemical in his mouth, and all over his clothes. He grabbed onto the floor from the chemical pit, and pulled himself up, gasping for air, sprawled across the floor.
Part Two is over! Part three is coming next week, don't miss it! Until next time!
