Welcome to the official sing-up for CBM's Inaugural Fan Cast Tournament. For those who do not know what a Fan Cast is, it is fairly simple. You take an existing property (be it book, cartoon, comic, or television) and you pitch who you would like to play each character in said property. This can also extend to who you would like to see direct it. It is a past time between comic book fans since AT LEAT the days of Wizard Magazine. As such, you will see several articles on this site about people's dream casting for certain properties.
Since we have so many people who like to arm-chair cast for properties, I thought we could have ourselves a fun little competition on this site. Forgetting our frustration with Iron Fist's critical response or our thoughts on the different cinematic universes right now, this is a fun game to see who is the best fan caster on the site. What is the prize? Bragging rights to say that you have an eye for placing the right actor to a popular character. Who is judging? Your peers on Comicbookmovie.com. What are you waiting for? Lets jump into the technical stuff.
How Do I Sign-Up?
This is simple. Respond to this thread by saying “in” (or something equally as witty) and below that either an e-mail, twitter, or Facebook account where I can contact you. I would prefer e-mail, but I can do the others. I'm hoping for at least eight, but can do more.
How It Will Work
-After there has been sufficient sign-ups, I am going to randomly match everyone up. HOWEVER, for the first round, you will not know who you are going against.
-Once I have matched everyone up, I will contact every participant with a property to cast. There will be a different one for each match-up.
-Once I begin to get “finished match-ups in” (both participants sent me their choices), I will post a match up article every day.
-The winner of each match-up will be decided by the CBM users in the comments section by posting which user they thought had the better cast.
-I will call the cut off twenty hours after the article was posted.
-In case of the tie breaker, I will keep the voting open for another day.
-Winners from Round 1 will move onto the second round ...where I might have some surprises.
The Rules
Rule 1)
You can cast as many characters as you prefer, but MUST cast at least four characters AND a director.
Rule 2)
A little blurb explaining each casting is not mandatory, but will probably help you on your casting.
Rule 3)
For solo characters, TITLE CHARACTERS must be cast, as well as a villain. For teams, at least three primary characters who were OFFICIALLY team members for at least one year, season, or book and one villain.
Rule 4)
Not EVERY match-up will be a comic property. I will, from time to time, throw a monkey wrench into what you are casting. Feel free to do research if you are unfamiliar with the property you are given.
Rule 5)
No dead actors or directors
Rule 6)
For currently running properties (example: MCU) that are already cast, you are being asked to re-boot and thus MUST re-cast.
Rule 7)
HOWEVER, it is property that isn't currently running but would fall into a bigger property (example: Teen Titans COULD tie into the DCEU), it is your choice whether you want to cast it as if it were apart of a currently shared cinematic universe OR if you would be casting it as its own entity.
Rule 8)
Do not steal fancasts off of other sites.
Rule 9)
No complaining in the comments if you lose. This is for fun.
Rule 10)
Be creative!
Well, that should do it. Please sign up in the comments below and good luck!
