@VIRLEMAN
thank you, and your welcome!

I just have to say this, I think Batman fanboy-ism is dying down while on the other hand Thor fanboy-ism is starting to pick up. (like him beating Doomsday and MMH for example) other than that as well as an occasional random upset (Widow beats Shiva, even though neither one is really even popular) I have to agree.

widows popular due to the avengers movie

^ eh, I guess so. I was just saying that Widow doesn't have a ton of fanboys or anything like that. So, her beating Lady Shiva or Aquaman beating Drax is kinda like a random upset.

Bane vs Sabertooth

Sabertooth's healing factor gives him the edge.

Aquaman vs Carnage

Carnage's strength should give him the upper hand.

Spectre vs Dr.Strange

Spectre powers are stronger then Strange's.

X-Men vs Avengers

Avengers win, half of the fighters on the Avengers sided have displayed the ability to take out the X-Men in one on one combat.Together the X-Men could only last so long before the Avengers take them out systematically.

^ i think youre severely underestimating the spectre, dtrange might be powerful but spectre is all powerful, omnipotent, can alter reality with a thought

Bane vs Sabretooth -- as strong as his super 'roid juice makes him, I don't see Bane winning this. Sabretooth's held his own against Spider-Man, he has superior stamina, his ferocity is legendary. Not a big fan of either character to be honest so while I do think Sabretooth would win, I can't really say I care either way lol

Aquaman vs Carnage -- Ugh. I hate Carnage with a passion. But devil his due. He has all of Spider-Man's abilities but is much stronger. Aquaman has the strength of 150 men (iconically, anyway) which would put him around the 15 ton level, while Carnage is closer to 30 or 40, plus his symbiote suit can form weapons and fire projectiles. I don't think Arthur's going to know what hit him.

Dr. Strange vs The Spectre -- Strange is the most powerful sorcerer on earth but Spectre's in a whole different league. Dude has the God-like ability to alter time and reality, and can pretty much do anything his mind can conceive simply by willing it. He's vulnerable to powerful magic but that's not to say he's completely powerless against it. I think he could handle Strange.

Avengers vs X-Men -- My vote goes to the Avengers on this one. Thor keeps Juggs busy, Cap takes out Cyclops, Hawkeye picks off Storm out of mid-air, Quicksilver hammers Wolverine, Iron Man clobbers Beast, Black Panther out-smarts Ice Man. Then they all pitch in to help Thor finish off Juggs, and that's all she wrote.

Morbius beat Jack Russell/Werewolf by Night is a joke. Makes me think no one ever read their respective comics -- or the time they actually did fight, when Russell was winning until they were interrupted. Popularity voting in effect.

Virileman -- I said above, I pay no attention to wikis. If I were to go in there edit in that Spider-Man can lift 500 tons, does that make it true? No.

I apply my own logic based on what I've seen most consistently in the comics. And I don't buy Carnage being able to press 90 tons any more than I'd buy Batman lifting 1,000 pounds or Superman lifting 200 quintillion tons or Daredevil lifting 400 lbs with one arm. You guys want to go by that silliness, knock yourself out. I choose not to.

@Fenix122 Why is it Thor fanboy-ism when he beats Doomsday or MM when he is clearly the most powerful super hero Marvel has . He is the only one who is a mega power in all 3 categories Physical,Cosmic and Magical and no one else is . I think it is more of people starting to understand just what he can do . Thor is more powerful than Silver Surfer who is a mega power in only 2 categories no matter what anyone here says because that is what Marvel and Stan Lee said and they created them . So it is not a stretch or fanboy-ism to think that Thor can beat Doomsday or MM or even Superman none of whom are mega powers in all 3 categories either . I think if you guys would understand more of what Thor is capable of maybe then you would understand why he wouldn't loose to pretty much any of these guys unless you do something like de-power him in one category by taking away his hammer .

@thunderforce
Lol, I see I touched a nerve. The reason I said Thor doesnt get Mjolnir in that particular battle is because it wasn't meant to be magic this or lightining that, etc....just wrestling and fists.

Anyways, Thor is NOT the most powerful Marvel superhero. Silver Surfer is superior, I'm gonna call PIS on Thor beating Surfer because it contradicts almost everything we know about both characters. Thor loses to Hulk a lot more than he wins (and don't give that crap about him holding back, because that was never the case until recently) and has been shown struggling against the likes of Iron Man.

Surfer on the other hand, would easily smoke the Hulk and Iron Man too. Overall, I think everything canon was contradicted for the sake of the story. Which is why it's called Plot Induced Stupidity.

As far as who the most powerful Marvel hero is, Silver Surfer IS more powerful than Thor. Just as Martian Manhunter is more powerful than Superman, a lot more people want to believe that Superman is superior to Jonn but anyone who's seen enough of both characters through out the years would know that Jonn is more powerful than Superman. The same applies with Silver Surfer and Thor.
thunderforce
thunderforce - 4/26/2013, 11:59 AM
So let me get this straight when Stan Lee said he created Thor to be more powerful than the hulk , you don't believe him . And when Stan Lee made the comic what was it SS #4 where the SS said he looked into the war hammer Mjolnir and its powers were greater than his own , you don't believe that either . That was the past and I will go one step further Silver Surfer will never be able to beat Thor in the future either for 2 reasons #1 is that Thor will only get more powerful because he is young until he reaches full Skyfather levels and #2 because Thor is owned by Marvel and the Silver Surfer is owned by Fox is it ? Marvel makes the comics and in their comics or their movies they will never let what another company owns be more powerful than what they own . I know a lot of people here don't like Thor but get with the program he is Marvels apex and he ain't going anywhere .

Usually, yes. But it's all fan edited, so I think we should be careful about what you hear in those because sometimes what is posted in them isn't true.

Like when there is a rivalry between fans of two different characters, like for example about a year ago I looked at Captain America's page it said that it's been proven he's a better fighter than Black Panther. Then I checked Panther's page and it said it's been proven in the comics that he's a better fighter than Cap. So, which is it??? It eventually got removed by their editors, but you still have to cross reference what is stated in the wiki with what's in comics.

He can absorb amplify and project any power including cosmic power he can also control cosmic storms and with Mjolnir Thor can create and control cosmic energy , He can also control matter up to and including transmuting the elements . As for the Hulk , Thor likes to fight but if he ever really wanted the Hulk down , the hulk would be down .
GuardianDevil
GuardianDevil - 4/26/2013, 12:30 PM
@thunderforce
iirc Stan Lee said he created Thor to be the only one who might actually be able to beat Hulk. Which he can, Thor is CAPABLE of beating Hulk but he loses more often than not.

Anyways, I also have trouble believing what Stan says because the deeper I look into things it seems that he didn't create most of these characters. That he mostly helped out Jack Kirby and stole credit later on. I like many have believed that Lee is the end all in Marvel, but the more I look into it the more it seems Kirby is the true king of Marvel comics. Although, this is debatable.

Thor isn't the most powerful Marvel superhero, Surfer is most definitely his superior and I would argue Dr. Strange is too. Hulk is physically superior to Thor, but overall not more powerful.
GuardianDevil
GuardianDevil - 4/26/2013, 12:32 PM
Thor is physically inferior to the Hulk, but his other powers make up the difference which is why they normally stalemate.

i go by the wikis most of the time cross referenced by what i already know, i do agree with fenix and loudlon tho, i was just on the marvel database and it said spider man was in the 20 ton range which is bs, but for the most part the wikis are pretty accurate

relentless1 - 4/26/2013, 12:35 PM
thor is inferior to the hulk, the only time you really see thor get a good hit on hulk its with mjolnir
GuardianDevil
GuardianDevil - 4/26/2013, 12:40 PM
^ yes, which is why they had Hulk leave the Avengers in like the second issue of the series, because they wanted Thor to be the most powerful avenger instead of being Hulk's punching bag ;)

I go by what's been seen in decades of comics.
thunderforce
thunderforce - 4/26/2013, 12:47 PM
And the reason they fight all the time is because the comics would be too boring if Thor just put the Hulk to sleep and turned him back into Banner , which he could do any time he wanted . Or if Thor just placed Mjolnir on the hulks chest that would be the end of any fight also . I know Thor likes to fight but if he really wanted to beat the Hulk he could .

Thor isn't strong enough to just KO Hulk, Hulk can take whatever punishment Thor dishes out. He's durable enough, not only that his healing factor is even better than Wolverine and Deadpool's healing factor.
GuardianDevil
GuardianDevil - 4/26/2013, 12:56 PM
At times Thor has managed to beat Hulk, but overall Hulk has the winning record.
LoudLon

Silver Surfer is definitely more powerful than Thor; though some writer had SS cop to Thor being more powerful, the proof is in the decades of comic book history. SS has routinely shown himself capable or more impressive feats than Thor has, and stalemating if not outright defeating more powerful opponents than Thor has.

As the fans who ensure these characters endure, we are the system of checks and balances which should be keeping the writers honest. Unfortunately it seems more fans would rather accept PIS and/or canon-contradicting moments/events, even when years of reading comics should tell them otherwise.

So swallow it simply because it's fed to you, or use your own head and call bullshit when you see it. And Surfer saying Thor is more powerful is exactly that -- bullshit.

Hey, blame the writers. That's what I do.

Its damned hard to get solid info on the characters in these polls sometimes. Not everyone on the site can have decades of comic info. I know I dont. So can that just be an understanding, that info based on web sources will be used at times. That if a character was created in the 70s and has forty years worth of stories, their latest info might be what we have to use.

Can everyone agree to something like that?
GuardianDevil
GuardianDevil - 4/26/2013, 6:36 PM

Yeah, I think so. I think the wikis are about 90% reliable so I'd suggest using those. All though, if there's something in those that you're not sure about you should cross reference it with what you do know. I think that's the best you can do.

^^^ The hammer's enchantment has nothing to do with gravity, and never has. It remains immobile until someone worthy touches it. If someone unworthy found it in space, it would simply hang there and the person trying to grasp it wouldn't be able to move it. This was my issue with Red Hulk smacking Thor around with the hammer in space. He shouldn't have been able to so much as make it budge.

Once again, modern writers [frick]ing up long-established canon.
