When I heard the news that WB could be developing a live-action Young Justice I had mixed feelings. I loved the animated show and love the idea of bringing it back, but anything that gets developed for CW has the potential for a Late-Season Smallville-esk style bleh. Reservations aside, I know I will at least watch the first few episodes (or all). So in that spirit I decided to put my ideal cast out there. Now, I need to say right off the back that this a PLAUSIBLE fancast, meaning all the actors are already in WB's family and could be actually cast (its not like Chloe Grace Moretz will come in and play Artimis).
KALDUR'AHM aka AQUALAD
For the Team's noble leader I looked for someone with lots of acting expierience and a familiar face. When it came to the look I tried to find someone with a carribbean feel. So I ended up with Disney alum Corbin Bleu.
He is a little older but can still pull off the young look. Despite High School Musical, he has been bouncing around dramas lately and could play the Noble Atlantian. And at 5'11" he has the stature to realistically look like his Atlantian counterpart.
DICK GRAYSON aka ROBIN
Dick Grayson is THE standard for Sidekicks and everyone and their mother would try to publically flogg the WB execs if they got this cast wrong. What I want to see in the Boy Wonder is a young unknown actor. The reason behind this is that if they went with a known actor then the audience might immidiatly compare that actor with the Robin they know from their childhood. This could lead to people rejecting the character before they even watch it, which in turn could kill the series before it even starts. So I scoured the interwebz and found Ian Nelson.
Mr. Nelson has been in both action (The Hunger Games) and teen drama (Teen Wolf) but is still fairly unknown enough to avoid that immidiate comparason. I wathched the episodes of Teen Wolf featuring Ian and came out feeling whelmed (nudge nudge) with the choice.
M'GANN M'ORZZ aka MISS MARTIAN
For Miss Martian I looked for a girl with that girl next door feel. She has to be bubly, full of joy, easily excited and b-e-a-utiful. I may be bias with this choice because the actress I chose is from one of my favorite little indy shows, VGHS (and I have a major crush on her), but I landed on Ellary Porterfield.
I could go on and on about her, but the main point is she is cute, knows how to play the part, and would probably look pretty hot in green.
SUPERBOY aka CONNOR KENT
I have to admit, this one was tough. To find the actor with the right build, look, and acting expierince was difficult. Connor is a very deep and confused character with one hell of a temper so the actor needs to be able to pull off terrifingly unpridictable and all-american boy at the same time. I thought, what the hell, lets keep DC heros in the family so I chose the younger cousin of Green Arrow himself, Robbie Amell.
Honestly, I'm not sure why they don't just give him the part now. He has the perfect look for the part, 6'2", athletic, he even has Connor's baby blue eyes. He played Fred in a few Scooby-Doo made for T.V. movies which were as good as you would expect out of a Scooby-Doo made for T.V. movie, but I did catch him on How I Met Your Mother as... Scooby, and he was actually funny. I think Robbie has the range to play daddy issues and broody (if Robert Pattonson can do it) and hope WB notices him.
WALLY WEST aka KID FLASH
With CW's Flash coming out soon this role may already be cast. But, seeing how I have no Idea who they will or have cast I'm going to pick anyway. Wally is mostly they comic relief of the group, but has the biggest romantic connection in the show with Artemis. Still, I looked for an actor with a mostly comedy background and laded on The Middle's Charlie McDermott.
He's funny, plain and simple. But he can reach that dramatic level at the drop of a hat (Private Practice, What you do for love). This role would be right up his ally and all he needs is a red die job and poof, Wally West.
ARTEMIS CROCK aka ARTEMIS
Artetmis is arguably the most important character with a lot of story surrounding her (her family, her "death", the whole mole thing, and, of course, Wally), so this is where I decided to throw in the big name. For Artemis I looked for the Familiar face to throw into the unfamiliar role to give her the natural fish out of water feel when it comes to being a superhero, I chose Annasophia Robb.
Yes, yes... the girl from the Carrie Diaries. But I am trying to save this poor girl from a glittery hell with this cast. She has the chops, and the look, and all she really needs is about 3 weeks in a basic training bootcamp.
ROY HARPER aka SPEEDY aka RED ARROW aka ARSENAL
Colton Haynes
If it aint broke, don't fix it.
ZATANNA ZATARA aka ZATANNA
I wish I could put the actual voice actor here, the stunningly georgeous Lacy Chabert but sadley she is not in the age range to be Robin's love interest. So I tried to look for a new girl, since Zatanna is relativily unknown to the general public, I wanted to pick an Actress who is virtually unkown to american audiences so they could fully embody Zatanna, so I looked over seas and landed on Caitlin Stasey.
She is Austrailian born actress who has just begun to break out in the American market with Reign and (sadly) I, Frankenstein. But her stand out role to me is the Austrailian Netflix gem Tomorrow, When the War Began. She is capable in action and is very pretty, so even if she isn't featured that much she will give fanboys somthing else to drool over.
RAQUEL ERVIN aka ROCKET
I personally never knew Rocket outside of this show, but from what I've seen she is bold, straight forward, and not afraid to just go for it (Kaldur <3), so I actually looked to the new 90210 (I know, Iknow) and found a fairly bigger name in Keke Palmer.
The star of Nickelodeon's True Jackson, VP, Keke is no stranger to the small screen. Her star has been rising in the 2 years since then and she is dipping her toes into the world of the silver screen but her connection to WB is still very fresh and they could lure her in to a few re-occuring guest spots with a development deal or somthing.
