Okay, so it’s been a while, but I’m back (even though just about everyone reading this probably hasn’t read my five other articles).
For a while, I’ve been thinking about how to create a DC Cinematic Universe. I know that some, if not all, of you will disagree with my ideas, so feel free to leave our opinions in the comment section.
Okay, so right now we have the Green Lantern, the Batman trilogy, and the upcoming Man of Steel. In a perfect world, the Batman trilogy would be part of the DCCU, but we all know how incredibly unlikely that is to happen. Green Lantern however, would be in the DCCU, while Man of Steel is a bit of a wild card. Some people say that it will stand alone, while others say otherwise. For the sake of argument, let’s put it in the DCCU, at least for now.
So obviously if the Nolan Batman movies will stand alone, a reboot is needed to reintroduce the character. But instead of an origin story, the movie should take a more Tim Burton Batman stance in the sense that the audience is expected to already know Batman’s origin. Maybe show some flashbacks, but not too many, just enough to give the viewer a basic understanding of Bruce Wayne’s past.
After the Batman reboot (needless to say being released after Man of Steel) we have the Green Lantern sequel. This is when things really start gearing up towards a Justice League movie.
The first half or so of GL2 would show Hal, after getting beat by a yet-to-be-determined villain, searching for someone to help him. He has heard rumors of someone who supposedly runs faster than any human alive (you should probably be able to guess who it is), but no one has actually ever seen him.
Once Hal is able to track this person (The Flash) down, they work together to stop the villain. It would end with Hal and Flash (probably Barry, have yet to decide) talking about how well they work together and how they should make this team up a regular thing. The movie would end with Flash agreeing and suggesting that they could also expand it.
To me, it is really important that The Flash is only a supporting character. I want this movie to be, essentially, Green Lantern 2 featuring The Flash, with most of the scenes featuring Hal and no scenes featuring the Flash by himself. Also, I don’t want this to be a Flash origin story, but Hal could ask Flash how he got his powers and the Flash TELLS him. NO FLASHBACKS!!!!!
The next movie would take the place of a Superman and Batman sequel. Instead of individual sequels, do a World’s Finest movie. Unlike GL2, however, both heroes would be main characters, with only a small part in the beginning explaining how they met, though inner conflict would be created with Batman’s initial distrust of Superman and that fun stuff. I would be okay with a few references to Superman in the Batman reboot, as long as the plot doesn’t revolve around something Superman-related.
The very end of the World’s Finest movie, and I mean the very end, would show the Justice League coming together for the first time, with Batman ending the movie saying something along the lines that, as superheroes, it is there duty to protect the world and the most sensible way to do that is by teaming up. I want the Flash and Green Lantern there along with Wonder Woman all in a cameo appearance. Also, I do not want the term, “Justice League” used, but instead introduced in the next movie, which would be the Justice League.
The Justice League movie would formally introduce Wonder Woman. However, until the JL movie is released, I really don’t feel as if Wonder Woman or the Flash warrants their own movie. After the JL movie is released, the spin-offs could be made featuring each individual character along with sequels to their respective films.
I know that this will need tweaking, the most obvious thing is to not call it The DC Cinematic Universe but instead something a little more original.
