Joaquin Phoenix as Dr. Vincent Stevens/Doctor Strange
Let me get this out the way, I don't think the name Dr. Stephen Strange could work for a movie. A lot of speculation has been going around if Phoenix is playing the Sorcerer Supreme due to statements and rumors. I'm here to say to say I would have absolutely no issue with him being the good Doctor because Phoenix is a great actor and everyone's complaints about how he may not look the part or whatever is irrelevant because Joaquin has never been afraid to change to better fit the role, and I think him being Strange would be no different.
Luke Evans as Baron Mordo
A very good actor with films like The Hobbit, Immortals (depending on whether you liked it or not), and Fast and Furious 6. Though not having the best track record people still get excited when Evans is in a film and with the upcoming Dracula Untold it may bring Luke more into the spotlight. Regardless of his future I still think Evans looks the part and could definitely play a great Baron Mordo. Mordo as the villain for the first Doc Strange movie.
Emily Blunt as Clea
One of the most badass actresses working today (see Edge of Tomorrow) Blunt can definitely stand beside The Sorcerer Supreme and hold her own if not steal the whole show. Blunt is in the same age range as Phoenix (for the most part) and her acting talents have been proven just as our lead's has. I chose Blunt because both of them are dependable and both are coming off stellar films, Blunt with EOT and Phoenix with Her.
Noomi Rapace as Umar the Unrelenting
Noomi is an underrated actress. Forget the fact that she was in the train-wreck known as Prometheus for a second. Everyone suggested Rooney Mara but I see the original Girl with the Dragon Tattoo as a better fit for the role of this somewhat anti-hero and sister of the monster Dormammu.
Tony Leung Chiu-Wai as Wong
Correct me if I'm wrong here but Wong was one of The Ancient One's servants and protected The Ancient One. Starring in films like Hero and Internal Affairs, Wai is perfect to play a wise yet faithful assistant to our protaganist on his future endeavors. Tony could be the perfect badass wiseman to accompany the good Doctor.
Benedict Cumberbatch as the voice of Dormammu
If it seems like I'm going on a Lord of the Rings.Hobbit fetish here I apologize and it's completely coincidence I assure you. LOTR is one of the film franchises I never got into but when I did see The Desolation of Smug on a whim I found myself wondering who in the hell was Smaug's voice. Cumberbatch;s turn as Smaug is even more impressive and fits Dormammu when you find out his voice work was unaltered and was only raised in volume a medium pitch. Dormammu for the third Doc Strange film.
Takeshi Kitano as The Ancient One
This Japanese actor has recieved much acclaim in his homeland and abroad for his varying work. Kitano has dabbles in acting, directing, editing and much more which makes me believe he could definitely potray The Ancient One during Strange's travel to Tibet.
Jeremy Irons as the voice of Nightmare
Irons has a smooth yet intimidating voice which makes him perfect to voice Nightmare, a prominent Doctor Strange villain. I truly sight Scar from The Lion King as the reason I chose Irons aside from his expansive filmography and Academy Award wins. Jeremy Irons seems like the best choice to me since Vincent Price is unfortunately dead. Nightmare should be the villain in the second Doc Strange movie.
Amber Heard as Amora the Enchantress
I believe the best way to go about a Doctor Strange film for the MCU is to tie it into the Thor universe considering Thor and the Doc share some villains including Amora the Enchantress. This could be done by the film or even just an mid/after credits scene like The Collector was done at the end of Thor 2. Thing is, Amora should definitely appear in a Thor film at some point and depending on the release dates and plans, Doctor Strange could be a good way to do that or even the other way around if they feel Doctor Strange as a film needs extra attention from the general audience.
Cameos
Neil Patrick Harris as Doogie Howser
Though in my mind no one would actually call him Doogie Howser I would love that Easter Egg to be dropped with NPH working with Strange in the hospital. I also request a joke about how he knew this girl that works for SHIELD now (referencing Cobie Smulders who co-starred with NPH in HIMYM).
Hugh Laurie as Doctor Gregory House
Another cameo I want from another great fictional doctor, House could be the medical mentor to Doctor Strange or even possibly go see him when Strange is trying every method to heal his hands only for House to tell him there is nothing he can do for him.
Chris Hemsworth as Thor
Like I previously stated I think Dr. Strange as a film should connect itself to the MCU by connecting itself to the Thor franchise. I'm not saying do this in the very first movie or anything but since Strange will most likely find his way to The Avengers I believe this is the best way to do it. A post-credits scene for the next Thor in which Thor and Heimdall see the havoc being wrecked in another dimension by Nightmare or Dormammu depending on which one comes out first.
Well there was my fancast/plot ideas for a Doctor Strange movie
Thank you for taking the time to read this and as always ....
That was mean and I'm sorry.
