Doctor Who Fancast For An American Production!

Doctor Who Fancast For An American Production!

I'm a diehard Whovian, so even thinking about an American version is borderline hearsay. But let's take a look anyway after the jump!

Brief overview of Doctor Who: Doctor Who is the world's longest running science fiction television series. It is about a Time Lord called The Doctor who travels through time and space in a blue police public call box called the TARDIS.

Some of these choices would be hard to lock in on a full TV series, I imagine this more in the vein of the Sherlock three hour and half hour episode series.

For the Doctor, I would start out with an older actor to do much the same thing William Hartnell did with the First Doctor.

The First Doctor

Reason: Donald Sutherland is a great actor and could really play the crotchety, old man that the Hartnell did. He would of course become more likeable over time. I imagine Sutherland in one maybe two stories before a regeneration.

The Doctor

Reason: Matthew Grey Gubler is great in Criminal Minds as Dr. Spencer Reid. He really plays up the intelligence and I could easily see him being a mix of David Tennant and Matt Smith.

Companion

Reason: Melissa Rauch is great in The Big Bang Theory and I could easily see her as a companion to a younger or older Doctor.

The Master

Reason: Liam Neeson in Batman Begins looks eerily similar to Roger Delgado, the original Master. I think the dynamic of an older Master and Younger Doctor could play well if done properly. They are usually close in age and more than equals, the older/younger dynamic is intriguing. He would also be the reason for the Sutherland regeneration.

The Rani

Reason: It's kind of a no-brainer. I have seen her name thrown around in DW fancasts before and I have to agree. She's just a really good choice. Like in the original run, she would team up with The Master.

The Ice Warriors

Reason: I've always been a big fan of the Ice Warriors, and would love to see them make a return. I chose Ralph Fiennes for his Voldermort voice. The Ice Warriors are very hiss-y and low toned. He would be a great fit.

Ice Warriors/Cybermen Actor

Reason: Doug Jones may not get the notice Andy Serkis gets, but he is just as good. Doug Jones would be a perfect actor for Doctor Who.

Daleks

Daleks: No Daleks! The Daleks have become overused and need a rest. They would be mentioned and alluded to, but wouldn't come along for a few years. When they did come along, it would be the older style Daleks. I would also bring back the special weapons Dalek. This may be a controversial decision, but it's my fancast so take that.

Cybermen/Dalek Voice

Reason: Nicholas Briggs IS the voice of the Cybermen and Daleks, it would be impossible to get the same feeling from any other person.

Sweet fancast dude! I always pictured a DW movie of James Mcavoy as The Doctor and Tom Hiddleston as The Master, but that's just me! I'll have to do my own DW Fancast, lol:P

You're right about America taking over DW being hearsay, as a hardcore Whovian myself, I'm against the idea after the Miracle Day disaster. But your fancast is very good! I love the choice of Liam Neeson as The Master, and Donald Sutherland as the 1st Doctor..Though I dont know if Liam Neeson would step down from films to do a TV series, nor Ralph Fiennes, especially after Voldermort, but you never know! Donald Sutherland is doing Treasure Island on the BBC at the moment!

I don't think TV's considered a step down, the best form of entertainment currently is through TV, so I don't think any one will see it beneath them. How ever paying these guys will be a huge problem, your gonna need a huge budget. But any ways its a good cast, not saying it wouldn't work it would be weird and quite jarring to see but I'm sure if its good enough it will win fans over.

i would have Sutherland as THE ONLY doctor! Very good cast. I think this is the best Dr. Who cast I've seen on here and I've seen alot. I'm not just saying that because we're SOAL brothers either. More women though, that stretchy face thing and Rose!!!! mmmmm rose!

No Dakeks? But I like the Daleks. *sad face*.

But anyway, great cast! I espacially love Matthew Gray Gruber as The Doctor and Ralph Fiennes as the Ice Warriors. They seriously need to return. If Moffet brings them back, it'll make up for the new Daleks.
