Hello and I'm The Comic Critic,

Villains, what's more to say. They are the basic premise our hero in the story has a goal to stop or instead is trying to figure out who as such in a detective story. The villain is often evil or at rare times turns out to be good but took the wrong path in life. There have been many great and memorable ones that have been included in popular media today and films. You can't have a superhero film without one. But what if, instead the story about the hero...we have a story about the villain of the story themselves. It can be an interesting story about their own dark origins or an original story of a later adventure that happens. I have been thinking for a while and yes it would work out in the end to be an interesting and different story in all. I have carefully composed a list of 6 villains, 3 from the Marvel universe and 3 from the DC universe that would be great in a solo story film on their own. Keep in mind these ideas are in working progress still. So evil beings....

Number #1 - Cletus Kasady/Carnage

Now everyone is saying, you can't have a Carnage film without Spiderman or Venom in place as supporting characters. But what if the film was not about Carnage, but instead about the character himself Cletus Kasady and how he came to be evil. A film that explores his childhood through his teenage years to becoming an adult as a deadly serial killer. Now this story can go a long with many expansions and original plot lines. And I think it would be an interesting project to see happen. It does not have to be connected to the Spiderman films but instead its own film entirely. I have recently watched the film "Hannibal Rising" which is a prequel film about the character Hannibal Lecter. If the film is done in similar fashion to that but true to Cletus Kasady's origin it could work out really well. It also needs a R Rating to work of course.

The film would be called "Kasady" to separate it from the Carnage name as this is a origins story before he was. I don't have much of a cast to think of but I would cast Robert Englund as his father. Dakota Goyo from Real Steel would play Cletus as a child and Dane DeHaan recently seen in Chronicle would play a young adult version of him. This is all of the cast I can think of so far but it would come out as a great origins film in the end.

Number #2 - The Chameleon

This one may seem like a wildcard, but it is not. The possibilities are endless here if a film in place about him comes together. The Chameleon's real name is Dmitri Anatoly Smerdyakov Kravinoff who originated in Russia. In his earlier stages he worked as a Soviet spy also just to mention of course being a master of disguise and trickery. As read on Marvel Wiki -

"Dmitri Smerdyakov was the illegitimate son of the patriarch of the Russian Kravinoff family and a servant. His only friend growing up was Joe Cord, an American boy who once saved his life while his half-brother Sergei, the legitimate heir, and his father treated him with contempt and brutality. This scarred Dmitri so deeply that he repressed his very identity and came to believe he had been friends with Sergei instead. His loss of self led him to become a master of disguise and a Soviet spy. Initially without super-powers, the Chameleon relied on his skills and a mixture of costumes and make-up to conceal his identity. He wore a multi-pocket disguise vest in which he kept the materials he would need to mask himself at short notice"

This could make a great spy/espionage film set in Russia with an original story containing his origins and his earlier spy years. It could be something similar to a James Bond film mixed with the film Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. The Film would be called "Chameleon" and I would cast Richard Armitage in the lead role as him.

Number #3 - Edward Enigma/The Riddler

Now to switch over to the DC side. The Riddler is a Batman villian who has been around for a long time. The last time we saw The Riddler in live-action he we dancing around like Jim Carrey in Batman Forever. I think it is time we see a new version of him but in a solo film. How might that work? Possibly I was thinking a dark action comedy film which follows him as a super criminal mastermind with both the Police and FBI agency's on his trail. He soon comes into trouble with the Mafia after stealing a prized gem from them and now has to create a plan of new trickery and riddles to save himself of being killed. This could turn out to be actually a fun film to watch. Many action comedy films today use a formula similar to this style. So it could turn out to be interesting as well as the other ones.

The film would be called "The Riddler: The Master of Riddles". This seems like a odd choice but I would have Ioan Gruffudd in the lead role as him. The Riddler is both a smart and deadly character and I think he can pull it off well. Watch this interview of him.

The Riddler has been portrayed a lot differently in media so it would be perfect. Sadly I don't think DC and Warner Bros would ever come around to making this film anytime. Only in the future I can hope.

Number #4 - Slade Wilson/Deathstroke

Deathstroke is both a great assassin and mercenary. As follows from DC Wiki he was a solider in the army who was part of an experimental project where he gained enhanced strength, agility and intelligence. The film would be yet again another original story which follows his time in the military to becoming Deathstroke. It would make a great war and action film. There is a lot that can be told about this villain also before he became a Teen Titans enemy. The film would be called "Deathstroke" as usual. I would cast action actor Luke Goss in the lead role as him. Luke who appeared in movies such as Hellboy 2 and Blade 2 is no stranger to playing a comic book villain and it would be a great match to the Slade Wilson character. You can read more of Deathstroke's origin at

http://dc.wikia.com/wiki/Slade_Wilson_(New_Earth)

Number #5 - Victor von Doom/Dr.Doom

One of Marvel's greatest villains, and foes to most heroes. As said he was born in the country of Latveria, his parents were also Gypsies. As said on Marvel Wiki...

"Victor barely knew his mother, a witch who had invoked the demon Mephisto for power, which raged out of control before she was finally slain by a soldier. Before dying, she asked Werner to protect young Victor from Mephisto. Victor's father, a doctor, was forced to treat King Vladimir's wife. When Werner could not cure her cancer, Vladimir blamed him for his wife's death, and Werner fled with Victor. Werner died from exposure to the cold while protecting his son. Before dying, Werner placed Victor into the care of his best friend, Boris, and tried to warn his son of the fearful life he foresaw him falling into, but he died before he could make Victor understand"

Victor soon learned himself in the arts of sorcery and became a scientific genius in the process. He used inventions to wage a war against the monarchy of Latveria. You can read more of his origin at

http://marvel.com/universe/Doctor_Doom_(Victor_von_Doom)

But it would make for a great villain rising film. One of the biggest pieces of the film should be Dr.Doom conquering Latveria and him travelling the world after his accident. It could work without the Fantastic Four in the film but Reed Richards is possibly needed in it as a small cameo since he was part of his earlier history involved with his scaring incident. As a solo film this would definitely be amazing to see happen. The film would be called "Rise of Doom" and Ben Whishaw will play a younger Victor Von Doom while Clive Owen will play him as an adult. These are two great actors and a perfect match to play versions of this character.

and last...

Number #6 - Gotham City Crime Syndicates

Oh there's not just supervillians in Gotham City roaming around but also most importantly the crime families such as The Falcone's and the Black Mask. Wouldn't it be great to have an epic Godfather style film about the Gotham Crime Families. A film that takes place before there was a Batman in Gotham City almost like a prequel. We can have a young Bruce Wayne cameo in the film. It can explore more about Bruce's parents past. While also getting in the darkest parts of the city at night and during the day. The main villain character should be The Black Mask and it would also develop on his origins too. A Gotham city film without Batman might seem like a radical idea but it might turn out to be the next epic. Warner Bros might not see this idea yet but it has to happen!

The film would simply be called "Gotham". The cast would be a list of many great actors, worth noting my choice to play The Black Mask would be Sean Penn.

Sadly I do not think any of these would ever get adapted for a while but it would make great new stories and a different alternative approach.I'm not sure about possible directors for any of these but if you have any in mind write up in the comments.

If you have any other suggestion's post in the comments below and I'll check it out.

Your articles are getting better. I think a Deathstroke one and a Gotham city crime syndicate one would be the best of them all.

@flamingopuree I was thinking that too. A GCPD TV series would be great. That rogue gallery is one of the world's finest.

I would like to see a Harvy Dent/Two-face film with Harvey Dent as the main protagonist rather than a Riddler film and it ends on the morning of the trial in which he gets scarred with him being all optimistic that things will finally get better.

uhmm carnage isn't hannibal he didn't have an origin that leaves any room for people to relate he killed his parents as a child there was no point when he seemed relatable. he is a one note villain and could barely support a role as a movie villain alone let alone a protagonist. i won't blast all your choices but that one was aweful
