With all the excitement surrounding the incredible release of Joss Whedon's The Avengers, I thought I would do a fan cast for the most notably missed Avenger: Ant-Man!
Reason for Casting: Benedict Cumberbatch is probably best known for his role in the BBC television series
Sherlock, as the protagonist Sherlock Holmes. In addition, he has also been in
Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy and
War Horse. Cumberbatch will be also be appearing in the upcoming
Hobbit films as well as playing the villain in the new
Star Trek film.
Cumberbatch is a very intense, very likable actor, which I think is something Henry Pym needs.
Reason for Casting: Rooney Mara is a phenomenal actress who really showed off her acting skills in last winter's
The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. I think the role of the tortured wife of Henry Pym would be a great role for her.
Reason for Casting: Best known for his run on the BBC televised version of
Robin Hood. He is currently in the riveting television show called
Prisoner's Wives. I think he would bring a fresh approach to Scott Lang, and he would be able to grow into this role throughout several films.
Reason for Casting: With Edgar Wright at the screenwriter's chair and (hopefully) at the helm, I think Simon Pegg would fit perfectly in this spot. He has been in the films
Shaun of the Dead,
Hot Fuzz (both directed by Edgar Wright), as well as
Mission: Impossible III,
Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, as well as the rebooted
Star Trek film.
Reason for Casting: He has really impressed me in the HBO television series
Game of Throne in the role of Jaime Lannister, as well as in the films
Black Hawk Down and
Kingdom of Heaven. I think he has the right amount of gravity to bring this role to a gritty, realistic, and completely unexpected degree.
Reason for Casting: Michael Ealy is a fantastic actor and I'm excited for his new television show
Common Law on USA. He has also been in the new
Underworld: Awakening,
Miracle at St. Anna, and
Takers. I think that Bill Foster would be a breakout role for Michael Ealy.
Reason for Casting: Ms. Marvel is one of the most dynamic characters in my opinion. I would love to see her appear in a future
Avengers movie, and I think
Ant-Man would be the most organic way to do it!
Laura Vandervoort is no stranger to the comic book realm, as she appeared on the television show
Smallville as Kara Zor-El, also known as Supergirl. She has also been in the T.V. series
V. I think, like Jonas Armstrong, this would be a role she could really evolve into and could make her own.
Reason for Casting: I am a big fan of the show
Psych and I could think of no one better to play such a great scientist other than Kirsten Nelson. She is best known for her role in
Psych, but she can also be seen in
The Fugitive.
Reason for Casting: I would like to see Ultron be more of a CGI/motion capture villain, and my only pick is Gary Sinise. He is an extraordinary actor with a unique voice range, and I think that Ultron's level of epicness can be exceeded by Gary Sinise as his voice.
Gary Sinise has appeared in
Of Mice and Men,
Forrest Gump, and the TV miniseries
The Stand, based off of the Stephen King novel. Currently he stars in the TV show
CSI: New York.
Well, that's all I have for Ant-Man! I hope you liked it, and let me know what you guys think!
