FAN-CAST: Power Rangers Live Action Movie

Who would I cast in the new Power Rangers movie? Hit the jump to find out.

Okay so I know a lot of people have fancasts for the new Power Rangers film, but I decided to do something different. I looked to actors and actresses who have been in films where they do martial arts type fighting, or know martial arts, dance, or gymnastics. Assuming it's not a full reboot, I am not paying attention to changing the race of the characters. If this was a full reboot of MMPR, then I would try to keep it as close as possible, but right now I'm sure that it's not a full reboot, but a continuation.

Black Ranger- Roshon Fegan

This and Chloe Grace Mortez are the only two castings from MTV's fancast that I agree with Fegan starred in Disney's Shake It Up, and I saw a few episodes of it. Fegan played a dancer, something Zack Taylor was known for. Even though I don't think it will be a full reboot, I still want the new actors to have some connection to the former characters.

Pink Ranger- Chloe Grace Mortez

This is probably the only casting from the MTV fancast that I like. Mortez has been in movies like Kick-Ass, and she's did her own stunts for the part. In addition, she said she knows gymnastics, which is one of the things the orignal pink ranger was famous for.

Blue Ranger- Michael Cera

The star of Scott Pilgrim vs. The World would make the perfect geeky blue ranger. In SPvTW, he had to fight his new girl, Ramona's, seven evil exs, in a varity of ways. That film entertains me so much, and I would totally love to see Cera play a ranger.

Yellow Ranger- Brenda Song

In the movie Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior, Brenda Song plays a reincarnated warrior. She's like a younger Mulan, and I would really love to see her playing a Power Ranger.

Red Ranger- BJ Britt

I know he's a bit old, but he's a great actor. He would make a great red ranger, plus he's played a SHIELD agent, so he would have some familiarity with fighting.

Green/White Ranger- Boo Boo Stewart

Boo Boo Stewart has played Seth Clearwater in the Twilight movies and played James Proudstar AKA Warpath in X-Men: DOFP. He knows martial arts and is a good actor. In addition, the green ranger is known for his long hair, which Boo Boo Stewart has.

Villains:

Lord Zedd- Voiced by Bill Paxton

I think Zedd should be CGI, somehow after the events of Mystic Fate, both Lord Zedd and Rita Repulsa turn evil again. I don't know who should do the mocap for Zedd, but he should be voiced by Bill Paxton. I've seen him in Agents of SHIELD, JFK: The Day that Changed Everything, and Spy Kids 2, and I think he has a creepy voice. Paxton is a great actor, and I would love to see him voice Lord Zedd.

Rita Repulsa- Famke Janssen

I saw her in a fancast as Rita Repulsa and was like "That's genius". I've seen X2: X-Men United and X-Men: The Last Stand and the end of X-Men. Famke is an awesome actress. I would really enjoy her playing Rita Repulsa, she looks like she could.

Ivy Ooze- Amy Jo Johnson

This casting comes from a tweet Amy Jo Johnson posted back in May. She said she wanted to play Ivy Ooze, and whether or not she was kidding it's something I really want to see. It will be nice to see Amy Jo Johnson back, I used to love the pink ranger, she was always my favorite.

Director: James Gunn

I saw Guardians of the Galaxy a few weeks ago, and it was a great film. I think Gunn would do great making a Power Rangers film, it would be everything a Power Rangers film would need to be. Something funny something serious little both. He would also be able to have the cosmic part nailed down, considering Guardians took place completely in space.

It's a continuation not a reboot, so we won't have the original Asian-Yellow, African American-Black racism that went with the first season of the show.

Love Famke as Rita. Apart from that, not very impressed.

@FanWriter97,

Don't listen to the naysayers, I actually like this cast a lot. Save for Brenda Song (apparently she's more popular than I realized), and Michael Cera is a little suspect, but not a major "WTF?".

Bravo my friend. :D

@CherryBomb,

As I told RedNTheHood on my fan cast, it's only racist if you make it that way. You have to ask yourself, is the person who made the choice racist? Or is the person who thinks it is, racist?
